Better DC than HC.

Bet he’s a hot candidate next cycle as well. Nearly got one this round. Feels like a poor man’s Vrabel situation

Sounds like the description of a poor man to me

what a genius way to acquire even more draft picks

That’s not how it works.

For 1, Saleh was a free agent. While he counted for a RR qualified interview, he would not qualify for the comp pick rule you reference which is for when one team loses a coach or exec to another team

Secondly and more importantly, the team who lost the coach or exec is the team who gets the picks

So SF got picks for him going to NY, but they will not get picks for hiring off the street, nor would they if they had hired him off of the Jets

Elite hire. Jets always had a good defense. He was handed Zach Wilson and the corpse of Aaron Rodgers and asked to make lemonade.
Got handcuffed with Rodgers wanting to bring in Hackett as OC, who might be the worst play caller I’ve ever seen.

Good landing spot and he will get another shot at HC in time.

Great defensive coach, that side of the ball fell off when he got fired.

Obviously the Jets are a mess, but felt at times he was too passive as a coach. Whether that was because Woody kept cutting his legs out from under him(yes), or he really couldn't escape being too much of a player's coach in his first time as a HC.

I absolutely hope he gets another shot as a HC, he's a super likable coach. Hopefully having lived the disaster of the Jets organization is an experience he can learn from.

Vrabel still had Tannehill (and Derrick Henry).

Saleh did wonders with Zach Wilson and Co. as his QBs.

I think he means for SF next offseason when Saleh is hired as a HC

Seems extra charitable to what he posted but fair. I just think most people misunderstand how that rule works.

The talented defense was good but he won 37% of his games. Wonders is a stretch.
I don't think he's irredeemably bad and not worth ever getting another shot but imo he also didn't do anything to make me feel teams should shoot him up the list for openings next offseason. His primary selling point is the Jets got worse when he left but they weren't good when he was there either.

It was a joke meaning they got a pick for him being hired away, then fired and now rehired. Rehab him and he gets hired again and they’ll get another pick even though he’s the same coach

But again, it was tongue in cheek.I know he has to stay two years to qualify.

Took over complete garbage team with longest active postseason drought
4-13
7-10
7-10 (QB1 lost for the season first play)
2-3 (fired for wearing a Lebanon pin after a 6-point road loss to a 5-0 team)

Pretty clear the Jets lost this one
