Hypothetical because I have no guns whatsoever.

Would you trade a Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker 270 WSM with Leupold VX3 3-9X50 for a Winchester Model 94 22 Mag with a Leupold 2-7 x 40? I have ammo for both (hypothetically), so that is not an issue for me. Both rifles in good shape.

Depending on the year that Winchester could be worth a good bit of money.
I’m not much of a trader or seller of guns but just based on trade value alone that probably a even swap the lever gun market has went nuts and that used to be a 350gun now they get 650-850 for almost any lever gun.

Hypothetically speaking, if you prefer one over the other, go for it. Is a little money on one side of the other worth your time? Sentimental value is a different story, of course.

True. I have traded a few over the years. Had a Ruger 9mm that was cumbersome to carry, but was great at the range. Ended up with a single stack that is awesome. Guns are mostly tools, and if one doesn't suit you, get one that does. I'm not in the camp that one should never get rid of a gun, you know if I had any still. That darn boating accident...

The ones I'll never get rid of, and pass down to my boys, were my grandfathers. I also have some junky ones from my other grandfather, something I would never buy for myself, but they were his and I'll always keep those.

what cartridge is the Browning chambered in ? The WIN 94 in 22WMR would be a blast to shoot, and increase in value. I'd make that trade all day long

In a heartbeat.

The lever action regardless of year worth more than an X-bolt and may be worth a lot more.

Go on gunbroker and do some research on what both are selling for. Then compare values

The do what ever you want.

I totally forgot to include that part 270 WSM. I already have a a-bolt stainless stalker in the same caliber. The x-bolt was my father in laws( who passed away almost 2 years ago) that I got used for him. He nor I ever shot the X-bolt. I do have 2 sons and always figured I would give one to one of them and the o other to the other. Something about the x-bolt though i don’t prefer over the a-bolt. Probably the stock. The lever gun intrigues me. I will see if I can find out the year. I do have pics of it though if that could help determine it for someone who would know.

I don’t know how to tell the years but they vary a good bit in GB with multiple or most in the plus 1k range.

270 WSM

I'd make the trade. I use my 22 mag more than any gun I have. If there's no sentimental value to the gun i say do it.

That 270 wsm isn’t going to get easier to find ammo for.
It’s a good caliber but those short mags need to be reloaded simply because of supply.

From Google, which I haven’t found anything on numbers beyond 1994, it appears to be a 1995

It’s the hideous magwell vs the hinged floor plate of the a-bolt.

1964 is when Winchester changed up their manufacturing and is the line for which the gun values swing. Pre 64 is more sought after.

I did know that but I haven’t found anything on the 4922M for less than 850 and most are in the 11-1300 range.

Hypothetically where would one trade a browing x bolt 300 wsm for something of smaller caliber that is really flat shooting?

I'm not a fan of any of the short mags, so for that reason I wouldn't be against trading, but I wouldn't really use a 22 mag either, so its kind of a wash for me personally.

I wouldn't be against trading, but not sure that's what Id be looking to get out of the swap.

The guy posted an ad looking for a 270 WSM, being a long time 270 WSM owner and shooter(that’s my normal
Hunting rifle), I knew I had this other one and the challenges of finding ammo. I have plenty of ammo, but I also know ammo issues decrease value on guns, so I hit the guy up asking if he had anything he would trade for my x-bolt. He asked rifle or shotguns, so I threw out rifles because I have what I feel like is plenty of good shotguns. He came back with that and an M77 7 mag. I’m not really interested in a 7 mag, but I have a million rounds of 22 mag and other 22 mags from my father in law. The end game here is to pass something down nice to my 2 boys or my nephew, however this gun situation shakes out when it’s time to divy up the guns. Just nervous the WSM will be more of a pain than the 22 mag.

I will never get rid of my personal a-bolt 270 WSM, because it means a lot to me and I have 15 boxes of ammo, but this other one….means not much to me. I do still need to get my mother-in-laws permission though.
