The favorite Hip-Hop Albums thread showed that most of the revered work is pre-2010 at best.

What are some good records to check out from the last 10 years for those of us who love hip-hop, but can’t seem to get with much new stuff these days?

Maybe an unpopular take but all the newer hip hop sounds exactly the fricking same with all the rappers just mumbling in kinda the same tone. It also seems much slower than in the past where there would be way more upbeat stuff released. Maybe I’m just old but just seems like it’s bland now compared to the past.

Butcher Brown presents Triple Trey

Basically a very talented jazz ensemble making a rap album with heavy Biggie influences

I’m not a massive rap guy or expert, but my favorites would be:

Danny Brown- Atrocity Exhibition
Run the Jewels- RTJ4

I'm stretching this to the last 11 years, since 2014 was such a good year. I am aware of all the great Kendrick, J Cole, etc, albums. My criteria for selection was that it had to be in my regular rotation. Here's what I got:

Atmosphere - Southsiders (2014)
Run the Jewels - RTJ2 (2014), RTJ4 (2022)
Sage Francis - Copper Gone (2014)
A Tribe Called Quest - We Got It From Here....Thank You 4 Your Service (2016)
Killer Mike - Michael (2023)
De La Soul - And the Anonymous Nobody (2016)
Aesop Rock - Impossible Kid (2015), Garbology (2021), Integrated Tech Solutions (2023)
Lupe Fiasco - Drill Music in Zion (2022)
Felt - Felt 4U (2020)
Shad - Boarding Pass (2014), A Short Story About War (2018)
B. Dolan - The Wound is Not the Body (2024)

You don't like Ren fine, but Ban

People bitch about nobody having talent like they did years ago. Dude can rap, produce, plays every instrument, great videography in all of his videos.

Not to mention too many flow switches to count in The Hunger
