What's everybody's guess on Jujuan Johnson position next year?

Everyone knows we're building our young talent back at Safety and the staff has done a good job of that the past 2 years. Spears, Rogers, Thomas(with the bloodlines here I think he's going to end up a steal) Bradford and Jimcoily and of course Cooley who will be a RSso next year we're definitely moving in the right direction. Originally I was hoping he would be moved back to S but since losing Josh Williams the talent next year behind Durhams really green. If Durham were to miss time that could be trouble, so if we aren't planning to bring someone with some experience in pass pro I'm now leaning toward Johnson staying at RB? Thoughts?

I think he stays on offense.

Would love to see him at wildcat QB. Just get him the damn ball

Joe Sloan has as much imagination as a dead person or my last divorce attorney none . The Wild Cat with Nuss in the backfield, sweeps power right or left , read options .
Defenses play us one dimensional in the run game .

Kid was a video game piece in HS with the ball, he should have packages for his skillset with screens and getting him out in space, I say offense but maybe defense gets him on field quicker

It’s hard to think he needs the ball as a receiver so it would have to be out of back or qb. I don’t think he’s our best returner either so he doesn’t get those reps.
I do like him. He could be a beast at Tulame

I’m curious whether he intended to play defense when he came here, or if it was more that the coaches saw him as a DB.
I think that probably plays into it. If he really wants to stay on offense I could see the coaches keeping him there since you only have 4 RBs and 2 are true FR. But they didn’t really use him like a normal RB last year, and there are a ton of bodies in the WR room. I think he probably has a better opportunity to get (and stay) on the field playing defense.

Yeah, I think considering the amazing talent he has with the ball in his hands you leave him on offense. He could be very dangerous for us as a HB/Slot tweener. He would definitely create match up problems for defenses. The more you think about it it definitely seems like a no brainer that you leave a guy that did what he did in HS on the offensive side and let him close what he does best

I think they will move him around in spring and determine where he is needed. I would love to see him in the Offensive backfield, but it seems there are plenty of the same type of backs with Durham and Berry. I think he could be a very effective weapon offensively but limited

They essentially wasted his freshman year.
He spent the year on offense, but he only got a handful of touches, probably because Sloan didn't really know how to use him.
At the same time, he missed a full season of development on the defensive side, while all the young defensive backs were getting game reps. Throw in the portal defensive backs and some really talented guys in this signing class, and it seems like he's a ways behind there already.
Whatever he and the coaches decide, they need to do it before spring practice and let him pursue it full time.
If I had more faith in Sloan really knowing how to utilize him, I would love to see him with the ball in his hands. The one thing that CAN'T happen is another wasted year, or his position in 2026 will be the transfer portal. All these kids want to play in the NFL, and those chances are pretty slim if he's headed into his junior year with a staff who can't figure out where he can make a difference.

They need to figure it out. I see a young man who can ball and wants to, anywhere he can.

I’ll just say this. If he has the “knack” for making plays on offense then it wouldn’t be surprising if he would have the same “knack” on defense. Some dudes just for that special “nose for the football” trait that is kind of unexplainable. Let’s call it the Honey Badger gene.

He needs to be the Russell Shepard we never had !

RB hopefully
Give him a full spring there. Baw looked a lil thick (pause) on Aaron Anderson's kickoff return TD, he looks like he's growing into an RB frame. Might be another Addai.

Trouble? Big trouble. I dont think there is any doubt we take a veteran RB in the spring portal.

I trust the coaches but my hope is defense.
If he can be a meaningful contributor (even better, starter) anywhere on the defense that means he's beaten out somebody for a job and is a clear upgrade. The D overall still has a ways to go, it needs the most improvement this offseason.
We're going to be awesome on offense and have no shortage of options when it comes to guys to get the ball to. Freshman RBs step up all the time, I don't think 2025 will be different.
My point, I don't think we need him on offense, would be better utilized on defense.
