Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, and Zion Williamson.

How has this franchise managed to fail so heroically? At some point the finger has to be pointed at ownership, right?

CP3 was the Shinn era.
Don't forget Baron Davis.

It depends on what you mean as in fail. We've had players such as Chris Paul and Anthony Davis that were considered either generational talents or perineal all stars. They led us to the playoffs several times and put New Orleans as a basketball city on the map through participating in the community and being class acts on and off the court by just showing up a professional day in an out until it was time to depart. There can only be one winner as an NBA Champion and they're like 30 teams in the NBA. The last decade there was a period of only super teams(stars joining up together) winning and not small market teams. Only in the last couple of years has small market teams won and that's due to the decline of superteams or rather their inexperience playing together. (clippers, heat, warriors, cavs). Our issue is with Zion not fully committing from the jump to a well established NBA Basketball team, that has been fully committed to putting a viable basketball team around him otherwise we wouldn't have hired that Sun's trainer that Zion wanted gone because they didn't "click".
"You are only as strong as you're weakest link". From the very beginning Zion was his own worst enemy and our weakest link. If he was serious from the very jump this team would look a lot different right now. But his inability to be present as crucial times or just in general show up puts not only a damp on our fan's morales but also our players too. I guarantee if Zion played like he was suppose to Hawk would look like a different player. We have bench/role players playing the role as a starter/star when they're supposed to be secondary players/help to the actual star player but Hawk is in his second year like Nickeil trying give more than he possibly can at the moment. Borrego probably can't even experiment or enact a consistent offensive gameplan because this dude Zion doesn't show up for games and probably doesn't even take practice seriously. It's hard to make decisions that benefit the whole team across the board when your most important player happens to be the one that's dragging the entire team down.
Griff has been trying to put together a contender that was never going to happen this entire time. That is what's the biggest crime. Every step to bringing the New Orleans Pelicans to a now successful small market team was never in the cards because, our generational pick never wanted to succeed here not because of situations like Derrick Rose and Demarcus Cousins body failing them. We've had glimpses of greatness in our players (Ingram, Jose, Hawkins, Dyson, Naji, Murphy, and Herb) overshadowed because of Zion's tomfoolery. Potential exciting playoff berths missed that would have given our players a chance of further progressing in their development. The even bigger crime is we tricked our own fanbase into believing that it's our organization that isn't well-run or committed to giving the fans an actual competitive basketball team because our "best player" is in fact running the show. Proven how? "In a familiar spot. On the bench." Zion is giving the fans and organization nothing but false hope. A glimmer of what New Orleans basketball could potentially be but never actually living up to it. Zion is the actual grifter.
Mike Breen comment on Zion
Had we cut Zion sooner and gave Ingram the team we could have had us a Jimmy Butler Bulls era post Rose. But unfortunately, Griff was led astray by the off chance he could finally convince Zion to get with the program. It's going to be crazy when this debacle finally ends and the organization starts releasing all of what was really going on behind the scenes that we don't already know about. Alot of fans are going to be pissed. I don't even think another potential first pick is going to relieve them of their ptsd once this ends.

Zion Failed us.
How do you give someone professionalism or worth ethic? They put (on paper) one of the more talented teams around him. It failed because he never plays.
The organization has no doubt failed the others. But Zion has to own this one

All correct, but you gloss over professionals like Chris Paul and Anthony Davis hit the eject button from NOLA early in their career.
It’s just a shitty place and you can’t expect the elite to want to stay here long term which puts a very low ceiling in place. It’s best for all of us to quit the false hope narrative and just sell the team.

Boogie is #2 behind CP3

We had successes along the way, but AD and Zion didn’t deliver for the long term. CP3 was outstanding for the Hornets.

The Hornets wasted those first two. Thats on them.
The third one is a piece of human excrement. Thats on HIM.

If that pick is Cooper Flagg all will be forgiven.

bullshite. You can easily say ownership fricked over the cp3 era, but AD had great teams that stayed injured, EGknee, Ryan Andersonz all culminating with a great 2018 team that lost cousins to an Achilles tear.

So you consider Davis faking injuries and refusing to play while forcing a trade being a “class act” and “a professional”? If so, then you’re spot on.

Sell the franchise. Get us something better in new orleans that will attract and keep more fans. The nba is a permanent failure in Louisiana.

One of these is not like the other. Zion couldn’t sniff CP and AD’s jockstrap.
Zion failed himself

We fricked up with AD and the end of Paul’s time. With Zion we kinda got screwed

I know it's taboo to say anything remotely complimentary about AD, but looking back at least he put some effort it.
The Zion era has made me appreciate those that at least tried. Hated how he left but frick, at least he didn't eat himself out the league.

Up on till this point AD has still played more career games for us than he has for the Lakers and Chris Paul's tenure here. And forcing a trade is from your prospective.
AD said:
“I knew I wasn't gonna sign an extension and that my time in New Orleans was definitely coming to an end. And, you know, I see a lotta people that say, "Wait --" or "You shoulda did it this way, that way." But for me, I've been in the league long enough. I'm a grown man. I know what I want. And so I thought doing it at that time was definitely going to be beneficial for myself and for the organization to get the best package available, so that way the organization is still set.”
"Davis made a good point. With the trade, the Pelicans got quite the package of players. Without the trade, the Pelicans would have gotten nothing. Kerr thinks it set a bad precedent, but it ended up as a win-win-win for Davis, the Lakers, and the Pelicans."
AD
Instead of fiddling around and faking wanting to be here anymore, AD saw the writing on the wall, knew Demarcus Cousins experiment was over, and went directly to the organization and was honest about leaving. Zion is just pandering to us instead of being honest from the jump. That's why we won't probably beable to get a good package deal now because of his BS.

We wasted $200 million on a fat slob generational bust that does not care. Chris Paul and AD are professionals. ZW does not belong in the same sentence as either of them. Pathetic situation.

I feel the same way. The Zion era has me looking back at AD favorably.
We called AD fragile when he routinely played 64+ games for us every year. Including back to back seasons of 75 games.
The least amount of games he played for the pels was 56 and we were purposely sitting him cuz he requested a trade.

As a season ticket holder I wasn’t thrilled that a healthy player chose not to play (I’m assuming he still cashed his checks BTW) and abandoned his teammates. I didn’t get any money back when he tanked the Pelicans’ season because LeBron got in his ear. Again, if you’re good with that, I can see why you think he was professional in the way he handled it. I don’t.
