Well well well, that slippery slope that was formerly preposterous is now being put forth by the profession that claims to have our best interest in mind.

A problem with the left is that it breeds an inherent devaluing of human life.

For everyone but them, of course.

Those same doctors should be executed in public, their heads stuck on pikes and their carcasses be left in the streets for the buzzards to eat.

Im ok with chronically ill people making the choice to end their suffering. But the damn doctors and surgeons just cant ever stop. They never know when enough is enough.

What exactly are they proposing? Taking organs from Old people that are dying before they die? Please elaborate.

Medical professionals are now discussing killing people by harvesting their organs before death. I'm sure this will be completely ethical and moral.

Yes, just another form of organ harvesting.

You will never get anyone to put a clear standard on "chronically ill".

One person's chronically ill is actual verifiable terminal disease or illness, for someone else "chronically ill" is being born at all or feeling bad for losing their job or spouse.

Those who support any progressive policy always underestimate how far the slope falls.

You take for granted all the common cultural decency western societies have grown. It allows you to communicate and convey understanding without having to explain any details in between.

The new era of "diversity" completely blows up our ability to have that understanding.

Hell, the US tried to allow harvesting organs of death row inmates as they were being executed. Courts ruled it illegal.

If a person is determined to commit suicide (and assuming that it's already allowed, I'm not advocating for euthanasia), why waste organs that could save other people's lives? And why waste the organs of recipients of capital punishment? Doesn't seem very pragmatic.

You could have made this thread better by providing some links in the OP

This is a pretty sensational claim with nothing to back it

I am an MD, and work in a specialty where we deal with organ transplantation. This is a minor part of my practice, but something with which I am familiar. Many people's organs are not considered suitable for donation due to a variety of medical reasons. Furthermore, I would imagine that most people seeking euthanasia are either very elderly, or have chronic diseases, which would make their organs unsuitable for transplantation. I consider this fortunate, as the idea of a medical professional potentially encouraging a patient to undergo assisted suicide, with the thought that a greater good might be accomplished, is very frightening to me.

The skepticism concerning the medical profession exhibited here is largely justified, IMHO. I believe a significant amount of it inensified during COVID. I was enraged by many of my "colleagues" authoritarian response to COVID. Many of us vehemently disagreed with the government and Public Health response to "The Pandemic".
