To clean up the cartels. Mexico isn’t going to do anything about. They are responsible for our immigration and drug problems.

This would be another Iraq situation, so not just no, but frick no.

Mexico just had what was effectively a multi-year civil war with the cartels, and lost.

We would ultimately lose, too, just like with the WOR in Iraq/Afghanistan

It wouldn't help. As soon as one cartel is destroyed another will pop up. It will never end.

Not really.

DHS and the State Department through congressional spending are the problem. Stop paying NGOs to recruit and process migrants.

JUST STOP PAYING NGOs.

If our government truly wanted to eliminate the cartels they could easily. But the want is the problem. And that needs to change.

If you limit "the cartels" to only the ones in power today.

Like with terrorists, the weed will just grow back with new participants.

Why? Several thousand well placed bombs, and millions of gallons of whatever the current version of agent orange, would fix the problem pretty damn quick. Along with a completed physical barrier between the US and Mexico, of course.

No, not troops in the traditional sense. Special operations targeting cartel leadership and operations would be the way. More productive would be sending military advisers (Green Berets) to work with Mexican military and government will US Special Forces support.

We won't be able to completely take out the cartels, but we can damn sure impact their operations and target leadership, causing cartels to rethink their activities. Many cartels not only push illegal activity but also own legal businesses as well.

Who said that?

There is a wide gap between invading one of our closet allies and one our largest trading partners and "giving up" entirely.

We must invade foreign nations and spend trillions of dollars acquiring foreign lands in order to truly be America First

No they aren't, we are. WE demand the drugs and cheap labor, Mexico simply provides the supply. That shite wouldn't be crossing the border if we didn't want it.

Like the Taliban: goat herders and poppy harvesters. Or this would be different, how?

"I will immediately designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, Trump.

1. Marines retake the Panama canal, stop the gap.

2. Southern command conducts ops in Mexico.

3.Independance for Northern Mexico, becomes US territory.
