UPDATED -Switch 2 Preorders Are LIVE!

I know there's a solid number of Switch owners out there. Any of y'all been tracking the rumors/leaks regarding the Switch 2?
It appears that there's tons of cats being let out of the bag by the overseas accessory manufacturers, and Nintendo may end up being forced to reveal/announce sooner than their March 31 end-of-fiscal-year deadline. Some have speculated that an announcement could come as early as the end of this week.
Here's what we know so far:
-Switch 2 (working title) will be backwards compatible with existing Switch game cards and digital downloads (Confirmed)
-Joy-Cons appear to be held to side of console magnetically, abandoning the physical slide rail mechanism
-Joy-Cons are said to feature Hall effect joysticks, eliminating drift issues that plagued the current model
-A 2024 report from a Japanese analyst suggests the console will have an 8-inch screen, compared to the original Switch’s 6.2 inches and the Switch OLED model’s 7 inches.
-Recent patent filings indicate that the console will have access to some manner of AI-based upscaling of older games to display on the new platform.
More to come as there's additional info to discuss.

Nintendo needs a new first party IP with this system.

There's been some back & forth about just how powerful the Switch successor would be. Some have said that it's PS4 Pro-grade, and others in the industry have scoffed at that characterization.
Honestly, IDGAF. Have good games.
What's mystified me is why they never came out with an enhanced Switch dock that had additional hardware in it, if they needed to step up performance to meet current generation expectations.
Nobody's asking for Steam Deck numbers in portable mode, but there's absolutely no reason not to beef up your docked setup.

There's speculation that Metroid Prime 4 could be a carrot that they dangle to make the jump.
A number of other possibilities from titles who have gone fairly neglected since their heyday:
-Zelda - The Wind Waker HD Remaster
-Zelda - Twilight Princess HD Remaster
- Animal Crossing next entry
-Mario Kart 9

I wouldn't mind a badass F Zero with this one.

They're due for another Splatoon, as well.

Metroid Prime 4 is gonna be insane.

As much as I loved Metroid & Super Metroid, I've never been able to get into the FPS Prime titles.

The only generation where rumors made reality was the Switch, most of the time they had been wildly off.
And if Nintendo isn't significantly innovating/being insane again, I'd have cause for a little worry. Maybe they finally skip a generation with that, but it gives me pause.

I figure there's enough of an iterative improvement on the pain points for the existing Switch (stick drift, no 4K support, etc) that they don't need to reinvent the wheel this time.
An 8" screen is an impressive step up. As someone who mostly plays in handheld mode, I just wish they used an OLED as the base model. If they wanted to step down to a regular LCD for the "Lite" version that will invariably come, then so be it.

I don't disagree in the short term, but there's no Switch without the DS, the Wii or even, yes, the Wii U. As bad a console as that was, it was clearly the final step to play with the idea before the Switch. And while 70% of their ideas don't hit, it's the 30% that matter honestly, and that's what drives them forward.
It makes things like Cloud saves take a back seat, but I'm happy to give those up for a bit (they were lacking cloud saves until Y2 of the Switch) as they toy with other stuff. And I think that's where Nintendo thrives.

The cloud save sync between two different Switch units is a massive PITA, but it's nice to be able to log in to my account on my wife's console which is usually docked downstairs on the big TV without changing the units in the dock.
That said, having a Family Group in Switch Online and NOT being able to share downloaded titles (especially when a family membership costs an additional $30/yr) without logging into the account that purchased it in the eShop is 1000% retarded.
If you're in the Family Group, you should have access to all titles purchased by members of the group. I get it that only one profile should be able to play a game at a time, but to have it locked to the purchasing account makes no sense.

Is it weird that I'm most excited about the console coming with day 1 hall effect sensor sticks?
It's a joke the kinds of sticks that are still being used in all of these expensive controllers today. Hopefully this makes everyone get in line.
I would love for them to finally release a version of WW that expands the game with content that was cut from it. The way it was handled in WW it's so obvious that content was cut too and it's very jarring

I own WW on the WiiU eShop but never played it for more than the first hour or so.
The GameCube/PS2/Xbox generation was the only time I owned all 3 major consoles, so my library was stupid deep. I barely scratched the surface of what I owned, thanks to working an obscene amount of the overtime.

It looks like it’s going to be about PS4 non Pro based on digital foundry which is more than enough for Nintendo games.
Expect old ports or compromises for third parties, exactly like the Switch.

I'd like a new Mario 3D game (Odyssey 2) with multiple playable characters

I'll probably be a day-one buyer.
This concerns me. While I can appreciate the convenience of it, unless there is some latch system to secure it I can easily see myself detaching them during some of my... more aggressive... play sessions and that ain't gonna make anything better in the moment.

Portable system.
Just because you can dock it doesn’t mean everyone plays it that way.
