What’s everyone’s recommendation on amount of time to run pool pump year round?

One hour per every 10 degrees of air temperature is what is recommended and what I do. Live in Dallas so I run for 7 hours in the Spring, 10 hours in the summer, 7 hours in the fall and 5 hours in the winter but at night. Freeze protection usually kicks on at night so no need to run twice as much as needed.

I follow TFP forum pretty religiously, and experts on there say typically 1 hour for each AVG temp range, ie in the 60°'s, so run 6 hours a day. Just be sure your chemicals and equipment are in good working order.

Yeah, we were told to run 24/7 when we bought this house 5 yr ago, first time with a pool, salt water pool, not sure if that makes difference

Pool tech here in FL told me long enough to turn water over twice. Pool volume divided by GPH for your pump.

24/7 is what I was told by the pool builder a few yrs ago. I have a variable speed pump that is always on low unless using the pool’s water features.

I think it depends on where you live, if you are using it and what kind you have.

I live south and use our pool/spa 365 so I dont change the time on mine. I run it from 9am-8pm every day of the year. Is also a salt pool and generating its own chlorine so I need to keep the time consistent. I change the chlorination percentage as the temps change
