Yep if we go with a little more average over power this year, we will have to run a little more than 30-40 something steals all season.
I think there's still a ton of power on this team just a handful of those types might not play that much, just depends on which direction Jay goes in some positions.
Milam and Brown are 2 returning guys I think can increase their power numbers a good bit from freshman year. Frey can hit some piss missiles himself now that he's finally healthy, but how much will he play? Same for Priester, if he doesnt start at C, will he be the primary DH (or Frey OF/DH for that matter?).
Curiel, Stanfield, Larson dont have much power but all 3 will be hard to keep out the lineup as well. Braswell isnt a power guy either but you know he's starting somewhere.

I think they are underestimating Jay’s ability to adjust players’ swing planes to produce more power.
Guys like Jordan Thompson, Dugas, and Morgan all saw a jump in power numbers when Jay arrived.
A lot of these transfers have untapped power potential. You’ll also probably see a jump from someone like Braswell.
Don’t need to see a massive amount of home runs as long as the run producing doubles take a big jump.

The way Jay was able to get this team to regroup and settle down the stretch last season shows how good of a coach he is. God damn the team found something and looked dangerous. This year we have more pieces to work with on batting and defense. Just have to wait until mid-February to see Jay work his magic.

There may not be power guys 1 through 9, but if the power is the only weakness they can find, LSU is going to be in really good shape this season. Jones had 28, Hernandez had 23, Dickinson had 18. Larson and Brown both have some pop. Feels safe to assume Milam can be a double-digit homerun guy this year. Priester had 24 homeruns in 2 years at Meridian, Reaves had 28 in 2 years at Blinn. Frey has big time power potential, plus you have the high potential in a few of the freshmen.
I understand that some of these guys are stepping up in competition, but the power potential is obviously going to be there throughout most of the lineup. I'll happily take 6 or 7 guys in any given lineup that provide the threat of the long ball.

I am not at all worried about power from this lineup. I was way more concerned about that going into last year, where it seemed like we had three guys, and no power after that. After a slow start, the power well exceeded my expectations. This lineup might not have 6 guys who will hit 15-plus home runs, but almost everyone who will be in the lineup, along with multiple guys on the bench, has the potential to be a double digit home run hitter at this level. In other words, the HR's will be well spread out, and should not be a weakness, in my opinion.
My only real question going into the season is how healthy can this pitching staff stay this year, which is always a question to be answered at the end of the season, and can that staff finally live up to the hype. For three years now, we keep stacking talent on the staff, only to have 4, maybe 5 guys turn out to be reliable. We made that work in 2023, but it would sure be nice to have some reliable depth to prevent a handful of guys from having to be overworked.
On paper, this is probably the most talented pitching staff I've seen at LSU, but it's also a staff with mostly guys who haven't pitched in the SEC, so I'm interested to see them put to the test. Tons of pro potential.

Jay was critical of himself in how he handled Anderson’s second half of the season last year. I think he will learn from that mistake and we won’t have any late season arm fatigue
