29* very little wind. Little ground fog
.270 Winchester
Had a cowhorn spike I’ve been looking for come out at dark-thirty yesterday evening, returning to the same blind this morning. He didn’t stay long bc the pack of corn vacuums (11 turkeys) had left not a kernel for him to eat. Hopefully him going away hungry brings him back.
Good luck and be safe folks!

Area 1
Calm and 39
.35 Whelen
Box blind in river bottom
Got a pic of my target buck passing 80 yards from my box blind at 4:37AM. I’m sure he’s going to bed down. Almost debated just waiting to go in the afternoon after seeing that pic

Natchitoches parish.
45 with zero wind
6.5cm
Overlooking food plots through a big clearing. Longest possible shot Probably about 160 yards.
First hunt of the year due to having a 2 month old at home. Just haven't been able to set work and home life down with the family, but I made it and I'm happy to be here. Brought my 2 buddies/neighbors from over in TX who have never deer hunted. Got them behind a couple rifles yesterday, one getting caught by the scope pretty bad. Showed them the ropes, and they're in stands this morning. Fun seeing 40yr old new hunters out here.

I was really hoping for cold weather this weekend - mainly because I love hunting in the cold - but it is a beautiful morning here!

Beautiful morning to be in the woods and worth getting in late last night to be out here.
Likely my last weekend for deer hunting this year so hoping I can finally get some meat in the freezer. Good luck to the rest of you baws!

Area 7 marsh
Back in my regular stand
58 with light east wind
7 mag on standby
Watching a small spike feed his way thru the marsh. Looking for his great grand daddy or a big solo doe. Bro in law killed a high rack 9 point yesterday with about a 7" drop tine about a half mile from me. Absolutely gorgeous marsh deer. Of course, I was going to that stand yesterday and changed my mind at the last minute. Glad for him though. 3 days left to our gun season. Good luck and stay safe

Didn't want the game wardens called on me for shooting 2 minutes early

Yeah, but they’ll stop in the lane when they see him instead of crossing quickly.

My favorite way to hunt!
I need a good turkey hunting style chair. Sitting on the ground is getting old and my ultralight folding chairs sink till my arse hits the ground in our swamp.

And if they look at his shadow instead of straight at him he can still flip them off and they'll get the message
Bet that sun feels pretty good today
