Food for thought to those that say the playoffs aren't working.

Did I miss that the goal of the playoffs was to have a blue blood be crowned national champion?

3/4 are blue bloods. Penn State is not.

Penn State isn't a blue blood, they are the next one out of that

Last NC for each team:

Ohio State 2014
Texas 2005
Notre Dame 1988
Penn State 1986

Given this information, I’d say these are pretty irregular national championship participants besides OSU.

I agree but PennSt is closer Texas than Texas is to ND or osu

You can definitely make an argument for them. They are seventh in all-time wins with 943. Nebraska is eighth with 924 and Georgia is ninth with 892.

Dumbest sports word in existence. Means nothing, apparently exists only as a word to start arguments and pretend that historically successful programs are still somehow better than others.

Next tier of what?

When is the last time anyone one of these teams has sniffed a major bowl? Outside of Mich St making the playoff 1 time and got kind of outplayed by Bama.

Agree. Blueblood seems to mean programs that universally disappoint their fanbases. Short of Alabama under Saban. Take his tenure away and even they'd fit the description.

LSU didn't beat Alabama in Baton Rouge over 30 years straight.

That's 3 decades of dominance long before Saban arrived.

Ole Miss is a better program than more than half of the list

What constitutes a blue blood? I would argue against calling Texas a blue blood if we are saying Penn State isn’t.

I hate these debates, but I still think a program like Duke basketball is an example of new money and not a blue blood. UCONN, too.

Don’t forget about the other 2 big bluebloods, Harvard and Princeton. The big 3 blue bloods are Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.
