I just found out that the same guy that made The Dark Crystal made Labyrinth (Jim Henson)
It all makes sense now as I've been a fan of the practical effects in TDC for many years now.
He took things to another level (effects wise) in Labyrinth, though I believe that The Dark Crystal is the better overall movie.

Yeah that guy who created the muppets.
Hes only one of the most famous puppeteers. If anyone knows one name of a puppeteer its Jim Henson.

Well Winston is a special effects make up guy and is awesome. I would say they do different things. He did jurassic park, predator, aliens, terminator, and a bunch of other stuff.
Henson is the puppet master.
Didnt know this about henson but he died from strep throat.
