To start off, my wife and I were carjacked last night on the way home from a New Year’s Eve party. We saw a bicycle with a kids seat on the back holding up traffic and laying in the middle of the road. We were worried that maybe someone had been hit since the area was dimly lit. When we stopped and got out to check the adjacent ditch for anyone that was injured, a man emerged out of the shadows on the side of the road and clipped me with a right hook before I knew he was even there. Apparently he had set a trap and hoped to knock me out so he could steal my truck. We fought long enough for my wife to get away but I bailed out of the fight once I saw him reaching into his waistband for a weapon. I didn’t actually see whatever he was reaching for in the darkness but I just didn’t want to gamble that he was armed.
He took the police on a high speed chase and ended up invading an old woman’s apartment and assaulting her as well. Thankfully, there was a K-9 unit on scene and he worked the perp over pretty good.
Anyhow, all that to say, I was grateful to my city police and sheriffs deputies for their quick response. It wasn’t two minutes after he had taken the truck that they were already in pursuit. The officers on scene were extremely professional and helpful and managed to get me back to my truck (which was shockingly in perfect condition) within the hour of the confrontation beginning. I know there are some crappy cops out there but I was glad to have the ones on duty last night. Happy new year everyone.

You’re lucky to be alive.
Edit: glad you can say it.

No doubt. It’s been a crazy emotional day. I was just glad that when the fight started, I fell back on training and didn’t freeze. Once my wife was safely away, I felt unbelievable relief.

Agree. I wouldn’t have even put up a fight with me and my wife in the situation..let them have the vehicle and go on

Would love to hear that they had to put him down because he reached into his waistband for them.

Always thankful for the boys in blue.
Backing up traffic where? There are sometimes patterns to these things.

Despite what you see in the media, and posted by a few complete retards on here, this is the case 99% of the time.

Should always be packing, especially at night if you get out of your vehicle somewhere unknown. We don’t think like criminals but we’d better start. You can be a victim anywhere at anytime - they don’t care.

Odds are decent OP would have gotten killed with his own gun. If somebody has the drop on you it's a total crapshot at best how it will play out.

It was crazy man, we didn’t even go out. We went to a friends house and were driving straight home. I didn’t think to grab my Glock before we left because we were literally just going driveway to driveway. From their house back to ours. We just happened to stop and try to Good Samaritan the guy who was setting up an ambush. Just crazy.

I’ll put it this way, it was a side of town that didn’t have many dindu’s and the perp was in fact a dindu. With a long history of violent felonies as well from what I’ve gathered. Guy should’ve never been on the street in the first place.

How much traffic, and how many people or cars were around to witness the carjacking?

People have asked a few times, where or what city

Not sure about that - know your surroundings and always have eyes in back of your head - he could have been killed without a gun.

I’ll keep an eye out. Black male. Middle aged. Tall and thin.
