A California woman is out tens of thousands of dollars after sending the money to a scammer she thought was actor Keanu Reeves.
Katherine Goodson, 67, said she sent thousands of dollars to the scammers through bitcoin, gift card transactions, and wire transfers over two years, according to KNSD, a local NBC affiliate. She said she is now living out of her car and had "29 miles of gas left."
"That's the lowest I've ever been," she told the outlet.

I’m pretty sure I saw this on nightly news a week or two ago and this broad thought she was going to get married to him.

Sure lady, a multi-millionaire celebrity needs you to send him money. His must have lost his ATM card.

My mom’s sister thinks she talks to Keanu…they had to take her to court so she didn’t give away all her money.

Not as low as your IQ though.

39k. Keanu is such a nice guy he may just give her that money. She is a moron though.

My wife has told me about 2 separate women nurses in their late 50's who were both scammed online by what would seem to be a guy. They get romantically involved online and fall in love with an imaginary person.

my wife works for a fraud department for hundreds of banks/CU's across the US, and this is a far more common thing than most think - and it is largely older people - which is mind blowing.
at some point, critical thinking and reasoning just vanished for a large portion of the population.
Fraud is lucrative because people allow it to happen.
she had an older woman that had fraud in the thousands on her account because she provided her debit card info to pay for shipping on an items she has entered a raffle to win. she gave her card info to pay for shipping on something she "might" win.
or a guy that had fraud because he gave his card info to pay shipping on a set of 1k cookware that was being given away - just pay shipping.

My mother got a scam text saying her grandson, my nephew, was in a Paris jail and needs 10k for bail, she was convinced it was him, they had all the names correct which was weird.
Asked my mom if she even tried to call him or his mom to see if he even took a trip to Europe. I actually had to convince her it was a scam.
She finally called him to finally realize it’was all BS.

Only way this stops is for these frickers to get dragged out of their homes and beaten to death with their bodies left to rot in their doorways.
Preying on old people is akin to animal cruelty.

Loneliness makes people desperate . A buddy of mine’s elderly FIL sends all his money to scammers just to keep those imaginary texts and emails coming. That they come from Africa matters not. The only thing that matters is keeping that loneliness at bay and that illusion alive.

Covid should have shown everyone just how gullible a large portion of the population are. Don't question anything, just do as they're asked.

Believe it or not, the same thing is happening to a lady in my neighborhood who thinks she is in a relationship with Robert Downey Jr. Everyobe, including her children, have told her it is BS, but she just won’t hear it.
