I feel sorry for SMU. They obviously don't belong and didn't beat a team worth a shite all year. It isn't like Penn State is just on fire. SMU would legit be sub .500 in the SEC.

Bama and Ole Miss did not deserve a bed to the playoffs.

There are 7-8, maybe 9 SEC teams that would beat SMU and Indiana.

And the sad thing is the winner of this disaster will be favored to get to the semifinals.

But….. you and everyone else would have bitched loud and long if Bama got in over them.

Lashes and Dabo begged for this. I hope Clemson is blown out also.

I enjoyed Bama being left out, but they are better than either SMU or IU. Of course, so is Ole Miss and USCe as well. Not to mention, LSU and Florida could probably beat both teams as well.

The new playoffs were designed to increase revenues and to spread them around. It is succeeding in doing that, but it is proving to be some bad football.

That doesn’t surprise me.

If the alternative is letting in a 9-3 Alabama or Ole Miss, I’m glad they put the shitty teams in. frick the other SEC teams.

Committee did fine

This is a top seed beating a lower seed, been happening since the dawn of playoffs in basically every sport

The entire purpose of expanding the playoffs was to get some of these other non-powerhouse programs a chance. Iputting SMU in over Bama or Ole Miss was the right call, regardless of how this game ends. That said, this was also a big part of the argument against an expanded field, the “watch what you ask for” group.

In year one I don’t think they wanted to be accused of shutting out the little guys, but next year there needs to be a correction. You can’t continue to reward these teams for playing no one and racking up wins, you’ll just further water down your regular season

I think the blowouts will lead to some changes down the road.

And they need to fix it. They rank top teams and #11 is sitting out in lieu of SMU. I don’t like Alabama at all but this #11 team tanked by CFP committee is excluded from 12 team playoff. Don’t think anyone on here would be too happy at all if that #11 team was LSU. I don’t care what conferences these teams are in they just need to take the top 12 teams even if most just happen to be in the SEC. It is, what it is. SMU has no business playing today and Boise State and Arizona State have no business getting byes this weekend.

Regular season is getting watered down either way if you’re giving 3 loss teams that lost to Vanderbilt and Kentucky a pass.
