Anybody else’s teenage daughter asking for this shite for Christmas? $189 for a hoodie? And wife thinks she has to have it and Uggs because that’s what ‘everybody else is getting’

Pics of the hoodie? Never heard of them? What makes them so special? Are these the new Members Only jackets?

$189 for a hoodie is a supreme scam

but if it's for your kid then seeing her happy is worth it

Unless these are made of magic materials, then this is just a trend to rip off parents at Christmas.

There’s a reason most of the middle class can’t get ahead. And it’s shite like this lol

I used to work with a black guy who’s brother owned a t-shirt printing shop. He got him to make some hoodies that just said VERSACE in big letters on the back. Instead of paying like $400 for the real thing he paid like $30/each

Literally if “everyone else is getting it” is the reason NOT to get it. And I hammered that in to my kids when they were young. Don’t be a lemming. Be unique. Be original. Look for quality not name brands just for the sake of the brand. And guess what. My kids are now productive young adults who don’t care what brand anything they have and are never trying to keep up with the Joneses of their generation.

My daughter is 16, self described as “bougie”, and I’ve never heard her mention this brand.

$189?

I thought they were closer to $400.

Too lazy to look.

You must not love your daughter, or you hate your wife. Either way spend the $200 and save the headache

How old is your daughter?
12- hell no
17- sure

Context matters. Is she a responsible kid? Good grades? If you are always struggling with her then don’t buy it. If she could use a nice reward, go for it.

Are you saying that’s because the clothes are so expensive that the middle class cant afford it?

Or, are you saying the middle class can’t get ahead because they choose to spend limited resources on $200 sweat shirts?

Its garbage. Their store in Malibu is a retro 80s Hippie surfer vibe. Way overpriced for basic crap with the Aviator Nation logo.
Not worth it.

Close enough- 13. I’ve always tried to tell the kids I would buy them higher quality more expensive clothes when they stopped growing. They aren’t wearing Wal-Mart or Old Navy, and I’ve lost the battle on Lululemon, but $189 (AND no free shipping until $200 ) is a no go for me. I found a barely used hoodie on Poshmark for $115- still a shitload, but it’s a pill I can swallow.

She gets $130 Uggs and a $115 hoodie for Christmas, and that’s all of her budget.

Is Whale Brand not cool anymore? I still have a Whale Brand sticker on my car next to my Apple and Yeti ones.

My wifes 16 year old cousin stayed with us for Thanksgiving and was talking about this. She was saying how it was a really good deal on black Friday because it was only like $100 or $120 lol

I must have missed it the Uggs she wants are not and have never been on any kind of sale, and OF COURSE she wants the most popular color, so we had to act fast on those. At least her foot hasn’t grown in over a year, so in theory she’ll wear the Uggs for longer.

If I add up everything my youngest daughter has asked for, it’d still be less than a hoodie from Aviator Nation, Comfrt or Alo. She’s very practical. I’m the one who buys the brands (for her) but I hate paying full price for anything so I usually get them on sale or resale sites. I did pay full price for the Uggs because they sell out so fast.

I do really like Aviator Nation but it’s because it reminds me of clothes I had in the 70s.
