Of course I know there are outliers that do. What about the average Joe?

When does this thing switch from a volatile speculation to an actual stable currency?

Great question. I'm sure people use it but I don't know why your average Joe would pay with Bitcoin. It's a buy and hold.

No. Bitcoin has failed in that regard.

Think of it more as a competition to gold than the USD.

At this point, Bitcoin seems like a status symbol.

It’s like a classic car, really expensive frickin’ car, just sitting in a garage.

Bitcoin is a symptom of our collective hopelessness in society. It has no usefulness as a currency

Bad government policy has allowed the infrastructure to collapse to where most people can’t see themselves having a fulfilling career and retiring comfortably so the only solution is get rich quick schemes, hence the proliferation of sports bets crypto and stock market apps

It’s got a stigma as a favored currency for illicitly activity from underground stolen goods to child sex trafficking and even arms dealing including nuclear weapons. No clue if any of that is true.
I know for certain that it’s been used for illegal activity on some local crimes.
I think the ability to trace it is cutting into the attractiveness tho.

For me, I would never accept it as payment for anything substantial. I’d be happy to pay someone with it though.

Not a single vendor that I utilize accepts it as payment that I am aware of.

I see it more as a fomo traded item. Some day it could catch on as a currency but it needs to be much more stable for it to be widely accepted as a currency. Besides, if it got any real traction, I imagine the US government would squash it.

Too slow to be used to buy coffee. But it is superior to gold and eventually will reflect that.

It’s literally just gold for Gen x and old millenials

Boomers love gold

Maybe one day when young millenials and gen z have money (never gonna happen) they’ll find their own object to run the price up on

Gold is truly unique. It's an element on the periodic table with many practical uses. Its properties cannot be replicated.

Bitcoin is not unique. It can be replicated over and over. As seen with the million altcoins everywhere. There's nothing actually unique or special about Bitcoin.

If bitcoin ceased to exist, my life would not change in any measurable way.
If gold ceased to exist, it’d certainly impact my life.

Conversely

Hypothetically, I would love to own all of the gold but would never want to own all of the bitcoin.

How would your life change ig gold didn’t exist?

Do you think the applications of gold can’t be replaced by other metals?

If FSD and robots didn’t exist today my life would also look the exact same. I do know they will change the world though and so is BTC.

Bitcoin couldn't exist without Gold. All of the contact points in the critical electrical components making up the Bitcoin network are covered in Au

It’s the best. What’s your point? It’s entirely replaceable and nothing in your life would change if gold didn’t exist.

At this point, no, it is not used to buy or barter, at least not by anyone with any sense. The reason is because it’s now viewed as an asset with high growth potential.

Would anyone try to buy something by signing over shares of their Nvidia stock? No

If Gold is easily replaced in Medicine and Electronics then why isn't it already being replaced by just as viable alternatives, especially if those alternatives are cheaper?

You've convinced yourself that Gold is expendable in an ever advancing technological society. I'm actually impressed.

Maybe you have a reading comprehension problem. I said very clearly it was the best and that is what it is used.

I'll ask you again, how would your life be different today if gold didn't exist?

You are the one that made the claim. I am asking how?
