The problem is that those systems are very expensive for sxhool budgets and few are deployed.

I attended a demonstration and as soon as the guy pulled a fake gun out of a back pack AI did its thing.

Eliminate the department of education. Give that money to the states and let state voters decide what to do with their schools.
We should require more specialized training for teachers. Better train them to recognize and deal with troubled students, train them in physical combat, train them in gun training and responding to physical and gun violence.
More rigid screening and increase their pay dramatically so it will attract better people.

Teachers should be valued. They spend more time with our children than parents do during the school year.

Some districts already do this. Ours has a cop assigned to each school as a full time "school resource officer". All the way from elementary to high schools. No matter which school, the SRO was always right by the morning drop off / afternoon pick up lines and if you had to go to the school office during the day, odds are you would see him in the area around the entrance and front office.

Here's the only problem with what you're proposing.
I'm totally FOR hardening the schools.
But some of the people working IN schools have no business being around guns.
I don't want woke teachers pedophiles, and other employees around the kids. I certainly don't want them to have access to guns, while around kids.

There's also the fact that many classrooms get out of control. To the point of kids verbally, and physically assaulting the teachers.
While I wholly endorse any teacher defending themselves, the first time a teacher has to shoot a student in self defense, the gun community takes a MASSIVE assault right up the back door.
And if the parents don't string up the poor soul, the courts most certainly will.

If anything, these teachers have to be extremely heavily vetted. And pass the same testing as air marshals.
