Anybody have any experience with home delivered medication

Going to the pharmacy has become a complete disaster. Prescriptions are never ready, often times they don't even have what is prescribed, wait times are ridiculous.
Is there a good home delivery option? I see Amazon and Walmart both offer this. Would this be a better option?

yes but the spam calls for refills are horrible.

I have 2 medications I get delivered each month and every 3 months and don't have to think about it. If I need to pause it for any length of time, I just login and choose a different date

I switched to home delivery through Amazon starting in about a month. Like you, I was going to two different CVS', and sitting in line behind people still getting COVID tests after work, or standing people 60 year olds that needed things translated into multiple languages was frustrating as hell.
All of my RX transferred seamlessly except for one, which Amazon notified me in advance that the pharmacy was generally non responsive (which tracks.) Had to switch with the doctor, which Amazon handled.

Switched from CVS to a small local pharmacy. Never had an issue after that. Submit refills through the MyRX app and pick up on the way home. They even have free delivery.

A locally owned pharmacy could be a real improvement over the national chain pharmacy brands. I feel for those going through the problems you describe. Doing business with a locally owned pharmacy is hassle free for me and I highly recommend it.

I don’t know if they will take a non-transplant patient, but the Transplant Pharmacy in Mississippi has been absolutely fantastic.

We’ve always use a local pharmacy without any problems and using My-Rx to send in our refills. Then go through the drive thru and pick them up. Now about a month ago we pull into the drive thru to pickup the wife’s prescription and the person two cars ahead of us proceeds to use five different credit cards and then try’s to pay with her phone that were all declined, seems like we were in line for 20-mins for that fiasco. The one time I used Walgreens I ended up with prescription that had my name on it and someone else’s address. Express Scripts kept sending emails to change over to them to get a 3-month supply by mail. So I asked my doctor why couldn’t I get a 3-month supply from the local pharmacy if Express Scripts could offer that. She wrote my script for a 90-day supply and had no trouble with the insurance honoring it.

My brother get's his prescriptions through Amazon. A lot of times he does not get them on time or not at all. I don't know if he still uses Amazon for this.

I use CVS and I pick my prescriptions up at the drive-thru. Most of the time I am there when they open up at 8 AM. I get notices that the prescriptions are ready before I got to get them. CVS offers delivery, but I don't know what what the charge is.

I generally like it. The app is pretty good and easy to use and allows you to control your prescriptions fairly easily. Every now and then I still have to use the retail pharmacy for certainmedications, but for the most part, my prescriptions come straight from Express Scripts in the mail.

However, seen it a bunch of times.. the people who transfer their stuff from the chain to Amazon or whatever mail order.. it’s inevitable around a holiday.. their blood pressure or diabetes med is late arriving or lost or mis delivered to the wrong house and then the people come up begging for their meds
Then the problem is it’s already billed to their insurance, they’ve gotta get a doctor to send in a new rx to whatever pharmacy so they aren’t without meds. And likely are paying cash/discount card for whatever med it is
Make sure you have the ability to take care of this type of issue . It can sneak up on folks. Especially leaving important meds in the hands of the postal service as they’re where the issues 99% of the time arise.

I use express scripts. Love it. I can order meds through an app rather than calling. I've had zero issues. The only downside is not being able to get your meds the same day. It may take a couple of days to arrive but as long as you order on a schedule and are on top of things then it's no issue.

It's generally been $5.99 each delivery when I've looked in the last year.
OP may not have the option to use local pharmacies and have Rx's covered; many health plans use a carve out for Rx coverage which basically forces you into CVS for anything of substantial cost. Do I care for a penny a day Rx? No.

I use a local mom and pop pharmacy. The customer service is much better than CVS, Walgreens, etc.
I remember the last time I used CVS. I stood at the counter for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. I’d finally had enough and took my business elsewhere

I love using our local family pharmacy. Unfortunately my insurance is now making me go through express scripts. I’ve never had to take a daily med but my wife has. Express scripts is horrible. Always something like this or that is no longer covered etc. Just a shite show. I miss being able to just drive up to the window and having nonissues
