I think she just caught the wave of people finding the salty black lady bit endearing and funny. She had some decent movies but she never struck me as laugh out loud funny. Just entertaining.

Not sure of her contributions recently regarding film but I would opt for Ghost. Lately looks like she is pushing for a part in a Predator remake as an alien.

Had a funny HBO special. Jumping Jack Flash and Sister Act were funny and yes, she was funny in Ghost.

The only thing I’ve liked her was Star Trek: The Next Generation, where she played Guinan. Wasn’t a main character, but in short spurts she played the role very well.
