Earlier this year while in Eleuthera I came across this pontoon on the beach. Seeing the LA registration made me think about the journey it had to get here. Loaded on a larger ship and offloaded nearby? Motored over from Ft. Lauderdale area? Either way, I found it interesting to run across it.

When I was young I welded for a company and had to go do a job in Suriname South America. First day down there at a shrimp peeling plant, there as a 24' Jefferson skiff with LA numbers on it. I thought the same thing, just curious how it ended up down there.

20 years ago I was on a remote beach village in Ghana, West Africa. No modern fishing boats. Just pangas or whatever they call them. Not even many vehicles. A few bicycles.

Then I see a bungalow along the side of the road with a small sport fisherman up on blocks in the yard. I slowed down to look and next to it was a Chevy Z71 with Escambia County plates and an Orange Beach Marina sticker on the back window.

Like being in the twilight zone

20+ years ago, I spotted an old arse Nissan pickup with expired TX tags near Saddam City, Iraq. It was parked and clearly had not been run in quite sometime. "IN-TOW" came to mind ha

Do you have a place there or do you rent? We’ve been down there a lot and are looking to spend more time there in retirement.

I don't. I rent in North Palmetto Point.

What area do you prefer to stay in when you go?

25 years ago I was in South Turkey. I was on a back road in the Balken mountains. I stumbled upon a remote village where no one spoke English. On the wall there was a Bobbie Brown poster from Star Search. It was weird cause I actually knew her
