With less than 1 week left, and while asking for tax money, City of St. George still has no proposed 2025 budget if the tax is approved?

I want to know how this tax money will be spent.

WRONG

The tax isn’t going away if you vote no. It will continue to be collected by the City-Parish. It will be swallowed up in the general fund just as it is now. Broome and the C-P Council will continue to spend it as they see fit.

You will pay the tax regardless of the vote. The money will either stay in the parish budget or go to the StG budget.

Not true. If the NO vote wins, sales taxes drop by 2% next April.

Okay, there appears to be a 2025 Budget. So I may have been wrong about that. I am still looking for link on that. I just want to see how this money will be spent.

There have been multiple opportunities to join in the regular transition meetings and council meetings at the SG Fire HQ on Airline Hwy.

They welcome the input of concerned citizens. They realize that folks out here have been short changed for years. Their goal is to be better stewards with some of your tax dollars than you’ve been accustomed.

am tired of paying such a high taxes in Louisiana. And they just raised my property tax again. If we vote no on this 2% tax, it goes away. This is not a vote to "transition" the tax, but a vote to lower sales tax in City of SG, especially if they are predicting such a high surplus based on 2%. This is our opportunity to vote for a new lower rate going forward for our new city.

Wrong..wrong..wrong...it WILL NOT go away, it will be kept by the parish...I can't believe how many smart people are falling for the organized propaganda of the Broome administration and her lackeys who are fighting tooth and nail to keep this money through outright lies.

It’s a no brainer to vote YES. Quit reading the disinformation on NextDoor.

It’s a vote to transfer the taxes not renew them. Some of you really have no comprehension skills whatsoever.

"Under the St. George transition statutes passed in 2020, if the municipal tax election fails, the City of St. George would not immediately have that sales tax revenue to fund its government, and the City-Parish would no longer be able to collect the 2% sales tax as a parish tax in order to continue using that money to fund governmental services," said Julie Baxter Payer, the mayor's chief of staff.

No it doesn't. The money just goes to the parish as a whole. You'll still pay it. Is your graphic some bullshite from Together Baton Rouge or the Broome Administration?

They need to come back with a lower tax! I am voting NO. STG was supposed to mean lower taxes, now they want the same taxes that BR was getting.

Exactly. We have one hysterical Karen who posts non-stop about this. I think she's a shill for SWB or TBR.
