frick Plaq, cut a canal due south of the bend to Dulac, will gladly take the land building. Instead of that fricking levee.

I sat through the presentation about this project plan about 5-6 years ago and I really thought that for 3 billon and only build 21 SqMi of land (go google search it on a map) over 50 years, this wasn’t a good value vs how much it will screw up the fishing industry

Why? Because they won't waste billions on a big nothing?

Quit trying to fix nature. It's 100% a losing battle.

Remove previous man made shite and all will be fine, for free.

Guys like you are the idiots

Can you describe “how much” this will screw up the fishing industry?

That’s precisely what this project is - while also maintaining the existing marine, rail, and highway transportation. And also providing the flood protection that currently exists

Plaquemines will be gone in a few decades if this project isn’t done. They get what they deserve for being myopic dumbasses.

From what I can recall in the presentation just about everything down stream the diversion all the way to the Gulf will convert to freshwater from Lake Sal through Barataria Bay. It won’t even build enough land in 50 years to take up 20% of the area affected, it’s a very small amount of land built. Same thing on the other side of the river for the mid Breton diversion project. Additionally it will effectively destroy the estuary where many of the shrimp and gamefish hatch.

It’ll stop further land loss. What’s so hard to understand about this?

Cancel or greatly diminish the project from design plan, forfeit the $500 million of the BP settlement funds dedicated so far and pay it back, litigate and settle the major contracts already signed with companies that have the resources to stay in court as long as it takes.

While they’re at it, block Mardi Gras Pass on the east side, a naturally created diversion that has been building wetlands with grass and trees since 2011. Ask Ryan Lambert, the owner of Cajun Fishing Adventures in Buras operating there since 1980 if diversions work. Hint - they do.

Nunngesser and friends advocate for a dredging solution which has been studied to the nth degree and discarded as impractical and far more expensive.

Landry pissing on my leg and telling me it’s raining ain’t gonna cut it.

Blow the levees and quit letting a few thousand people hold hostage a few million.

Someday the Feds are going to say sorry Louisiana, we gave you a chance and you blew it. I’d start moving north, the sooner the better. No more hurricane related funding, dumbass.
