Clark Creek advice

My brother and I wanted to take the fam to Clark Creek during the holidays. I have a 6 year old and 8 year old. He’s got an 11 and 2. Little concerned with how long the hike would be to the waterfalls. Or does anyone know if there are waterfalls fairly close to parking? An advice is welcomed, thank you!

The last time I was there was after a heavy rain and I remember some of those downhill parts of the trail were slippery. That was quite a few years ago, hope most of the big trees are still there.
Clark Creek is a wonderful place.

Its not a long hike, but its steep terrain in places. Leave the 2 year old home. 6 year old might be ok, depending on the kid. Mine was about 8 or 9 the first time I took her and she did fine. Its doable for kids, but not one you want to have to carry a kid who can’t make it

Wear hunters orange or wait until after hunting season.

If you stay in the creek and the water is low the hike is much easier. Still a heck of a climb back up to the parking lot.

Why? There is no hunting allowed at Clark Creek SP.

An alternative could be Port Hudson State Historic Site. Kids may be interested in the history and there are hiking trails. Not as steep or challenging as Clark Creek. But no waterfalls.

Are you confusing it with Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area?

Probably because it Mississippi with a bunch of drunk rednecks off all week, with almost no law enforcement. Before going out in any wooded area this time of year, I'd cover myself in orange.

We did it about a month ago one Sunday. I have a 3 year old & an 11 month old. I put the 11 month old on my back in a carrier & the 3 year old "hiked" everything but the last climb back up to the parking lot. We packed some fruit & beef jerky for them to snack on & a few bottles of water. We were just fine. You only need a few hours out there.
It was dry so mud wasn't an issue. We hiked to the 2nd waterfall & let them play around a bit & they had a blast.
Both kids were sound asleep before I could put the truck in gear.
On a side note, I did have to yell at some little shithead 10 year old who was hurling huge chunks of hardened clay from off the top of the waterfall where my little girl was playing. Huge one missed her by about 6 feet & I went fricking ballistic. His parents tried to tell me that he didn't mean to do it & that it was an accident. I watched the little shite pick it up with the intent to throw it off all the while I was telling him not to. Sorry to hijack. But this thread just reminded me about it & made my blood boil again at the kid & his shitty travel ball parents.
