How many QBs have been elite freshmen year?

I get that Underwood is good and has great talent, but even looking at Burrow and Daniels, they weren’t becoming elite until junior and senior year. Shouldn’t we be going after those passed over backups at the Ohio States, Georgias, Alabamas, or other places?

Very few. Zero who got paid millions. That motivation and work ethic just left for good.

Tua and Trevor Lawrence both won natties, but neither really played until the CFP.

Caleb Williams was elite at OU.

Shouldn’t we be going after backups from our rivals? Uh maybe but that’s not the recipe for sucess. Just develop the guys you got. Stop wanting the shiny new toy.

Jalen Hurts was SEC Offensive POY as a freshman.

It seemed to work with Burrow. I’m not talking about going after failures but elite guys that may be overlooked for whatever reason. What’s the ceiling for Nuss honestly? Is he going to suddenly develop wheels? Is an elite pocket passer, assuming Nuss gets there, going to give us the edge over a near-elite passer who can run?

Lawrence bumped Kelly Bryant pretty early in the season. He was a starter well before the playoffs.

Michael Vick at Virginia Tech IIRC but it's pretty rare.

Trevor started game 5 onwards. Kelly Bryant used his 4 games and then took the rest of the year to redshirt then transfer.

Are we only counting true freshmen? Because Manziel and Winston won the heisman as redshirt freshmen.

Hurts got Bama to the title game as a true freshman but he wasn't really "elite" until Lincoln Riley got his hands on him.

How is elite and overlooked in the same sentence?
The ceiling for nuss? Why not improve his foot work, oline and pass catching improvement? I just want to see BK develop not just buy portal guys
