Absolutely. He was one of the pioneers of blues/rock guitar in the 60's.
I think he was overshadowed simply by the amount of other guys breaking out at the same time, and kind of got lost in the flood.
There were a lot of great guitarists from the 60's-early 70's who never got the attention they deserved.

Lee recorded a great double album after the final demise of 10 Years After, called In Flight (1973). Spread his playing beyond rock/blues on that one and its really good. Was hard to find, but I believe it got reissued about 10 years ago.

Yep. Had several Ten Years After albums and even a Ten Years Later album. He and Johnny Winter were two of my first guitar heroes.

country rock album with an American gospel singer and a band including George Harrison, Ronnie Wood and Winwood/Capaldi from Traffic, recorded and released just prior to the “in flight” live album. Worth seeking out

Big Alvin Lee fan here, a great guitarist. I love live recordings it shows abilities, unlike studios where things can be altered. Alvin at Woodstock with I'm Going Home absolutely stole the show from every other band.

Saw live at the Fillmore West summer of 1970. Cactus opened.

That’s George Harrison playing the slide guitar on The Bluest Blues. Harrison had a unique smooth style on slide and was very underrated.
