The reality is CFB most know and love is dead

The whole underlying premise of CFB that supposedly made it great was school pride and State pride which was shared equally by fans and players and even coaches. That is all but gone if it ever really existed anyway. So the gig is up. Everyone is selfish. Coaches want whats best for them, players for themselves, fans want whats most fun for them which is believing players/coaches care most about school and thinking we all win/lose together as a school. These things cannot all exist simultaneously with current rules or maybe at all. So.....its done. My opinion. Enjoy holidays. Watch NFL where at least we know what drives it. There are contracts and rules that everyone is inforned of. Only solution is to start NFL minor league and make CFB for those who actually want to be in College like baseball. Downvote if u want but this is our reality we need to face as fans. Our addiction to the game we loved and willingness to pay any price and fight through any restriction, pay any parking/tailgate fee, sit in any traffic jam to us was being a good fan but to the system it just fed the greedy monster. Chickens have come home to roost.

Speak for yourself. Some of us saw through the shite and checked out a long time ago.

Fair enough. Some of us have family traditions that kept us attached way too long. Im goad i made it to 2019 tho.

The whole NIL thing has ruined college sports for me. I understand and agree that the athletes should get compensation for their performance. But these students do not need this stupid money. Give them $25k a year across the board. They are getting an education already (hopefully). After the gump game when I was walking back to my truck, I was thinking about all the things I could do with the money I spend on my season tickets and everything wrapped around that. I loved college athletics way more than the pros because it meant more to the students. Not so much anymore.

I agree and feared this day. Greed has taken over and there are no restrictions to make things fair. No NIL cap with players seemingly empowered to leave teams each year for more Dinero. Confusing and frustrating.

Absolutely agree. It’s a shitty back stabbing business now.

Had the NCAA not stone walled for so many years years, this was the clear solution. But since they balked eventually the nuclear NIL option was pulled and now Pandoras box can't be shut again.
Only solution now is let the Underwoods go pro at least so schools aren't in these massive bidding wars and we hopefully get back to kids who actually give a shite about the school.
And burn the Brian Kelly and Jimbo type contracts.

The very premise of this post is why I think that anyone hating on Nussmier can kick rocks. Kid is a good quarterback being put on a tough situation. And he loves this school as much as any poster on here. He could have easily put his talents up for auction last year.

Yep. It was such a different feel even if we sucked. I enjoyed watching LSU-Arky on Friday with nothing but a giant gaudy double-wide trailer decoration (aka The Boot) at stake.
Now it feels like a mutant little half brother of the NFL, nay arena league.

I agree. Nuss is a dying breed. Loyalty, pride, competition drives him. We should appreciate that.

You ain’t wrong. I find myself watching more random NFL games. My fandom isn’t blinded by hatred either. I like watching former Tigers ball out, I like Buffalo, and it’ll be a great day when my Cowboys are worth a shite.
I used to live for CFB Saturdays. The reality is, LSU can’t compete with the big dogs in the NIL era. I posed this question last week and was downvoted. One commit flips and it seems like the truth is clear. Suddenly, 10 win seasons seem like a good deal.
Kelly is sucking, but this isn’t on him. The whole sport has been screwed for a few years now.

Folks, these are all SCHOOLS that were established to educate our adolescent CHILDREN. The ball players are on teams that represent these schools.
Are you a rabid fan of your high school volleyball or wrestling team?
What about your Grade school sports team? Do you attend those games?
My point is that sometimes it seems to me that we are getting wrapped up in the activities of a SCHOOL and forget that a school is just a place where adolescents go to kill time before they enter the Real World. School is not the real world.
Spend more time in the Real World. Don't be like Doug Heffernan (King of Queens) in those episodes where he keeps going back to high school or going back to playing football. We laugh at the character's inability to leave SCHOOL in the past, where it belongs.
