Someone please explain the logic behind Louisiana doe days to me? why do we have doe and buck tags and still have doe days. if we can kill 3 wtf, does it matter what day they die on? is this just another thing this state is years behind on?

I’d rather have a reduced limit for area 9 and no doe days. I don’t understand the logic either.

I don't believe there is any logic behind it

Its dumb as frick, and it leads to more small bucks getting killed than would otherwise.

Flood the office with emails is a start.

It truly is a dumb, antiquated, concept

As far as I know, nothing. They want you in DMAP, and that's what they'll tell you to do if you don't like doe days.

The frustrating thing is, I know zero people who have had biologists come out for a survey and tell them to shoot less does. In almost every instance, they are told they need to kill way more and if in DMAP, issues far more doe tags than they could ever hope to fill. This includes area 9, where there is supposedly some kind of problem with the deer herd.

Area 9 is just comical in itself. You’re telling me the herd in new Iberia all the way to challmette is the same. Come on people

more comical, in the basin you have state land right next to a wma, stateland is open all year with 14 doe days and dogs, wma is only open 12 days of rifle and 2 doe days, makes no sense whatsoever, who makes these rules, makes you wonder

exactly this, they want their nose in your biz. Boilerplate limits and tags help keep knowledgeable private landowners from managing their land.

Was thinking the same thing after I watched 5 does feeding on the pipeline for an hour this evening, but didn’t see shite for deer the first week of primitive and opening rifle(either sex)

I know it’s silly, but I still say them hoes got the pamphlet posted in the bedding area.

The last day I hunted, I saw 15 deer. All does and yearlings. It was the January primitive firearms season and they were all off limits.

WTF

Area 9 is too big and diverse. It should be managed more according to habitat type. If you want to limit the number of does killed then reduce the bag limit from the area. Not the days when they may be taken.

I agree. First thing they can do is split area 9 into two separate areas by using the Mississippi River as a dividing line. Area 9 is too big. After that, those two areas can probably be split into more areas.
