Bozeman, MT in January?

Wife and I are looking to take a 4 day trip 1/6-1/9. We want to go somewhere new and Bozeman caught my eye. A day of skiing, drive to Yellowstone, visit hot springs, etc. I know I’d have to rent a 4x4 drive around.
Will it be too cold to do anything no matter how many layers you wear? I’ve tried to look at normal temps online and it’s saying from ~0F-~33F. Is this accurate?

I guess that depends on your tolerance. I usually snowboard comfortably with a base layer and a ski jacket down to 10° or so. I have hiked in 30° degrees shirtless.
A lot has to do with sun and wind as well. 0° in the sun is about the same as 30° with clouds and wind to me.
If you are doing physical things you will warm up quick. But if you are snowmobiling or something, you better bundle up. Best advice is to put layers on, then take them off if you are hot. But overall, you should be fine.

This. Its not just the cold OP, there will be 2ft of snow or more on the ground so you are VERY limited in where you can go. It could easily be -20, so keep that in mind.
Yellowstone shuts down quite a bit, you'll need to confirm what is open and accessible. Like I think some of it is snowmobile tours only.

No, just dress accordingly. Its going to be much colder than you are used to but you'll get used to it.
Defiitely ski. Big Sky is obviously awesome, but you can also go closer and check out Bridger Bowl, which is also great just smaller but not as touristy.
Bridger Bowl
For hot springs check out Chico if you can get there, just make sure the pass is open, its not always.
Chico
I haven't done Yellowstone in a long time, so I'm not sure of the options in the winter but I don't think you can snowmobile in anymore, that used to be awesome. I'm sure you can somewhere around the area though.

I found an Airbnb in Camona just N of Bozeman. We only have 2 full days. Planning on skiing Bridger bowl a half day, then checking out a hot springs in the area if we can find one open. Then, we’re going to sled west Yellowstone the next day.
We’re looking forward to it! Thanks!

Don't believe this is possible at all except for North end near Mammoth Falls. Only access in will be snowmobile, snow coach, etc.. and I think they are all guided/tours now. There is a snow taxi to/from Old Faithful Inn. Don't think you have to be a guest but regardless it isn't that cheap.
FYI... for Yellowstone all roads are generally closed at end of October or early November. Been in last week of October a few times in my truck but snow chains were highly recommended and I had them and needed them in a few spots.
Outside Yellowstone they do a pretty decent job of keeping the roads open year round unless a snowstorm is coming through.
I would expect it to be around 10-14 F and plan accordingly. If it is 0F it won't last and if it is 33F it won't last. You guys will have a blast in January regardless. Great trip.

Don't be ridiculous, people drive between Bozeman and and West Yellowstone all the time in the winter.

The town of west Yellowstone is not in Yellowstone though and is a town so obviously you can get there once plowed.
I don’t know the Yellowstone winter road schedule, but most of it absolutely is not open.

I guess I just assumed they were going to West Yellowstone from Bozeman and arranging some kind of tour from there, not trying to actually drive through the park.

The Yellowstone tours look awesome, never done one but have heard a lot of good things. I think they do fill up fast though, I have tried to do one but they were full.
