Remember watching it live in college. Was studying for a test and had it on in background. Watching some smug fans FAFO was nice.

The whole thing was classic Detroit - in a way it was nice to see the Jews, Arabs, and black community come together for a cause.

May God Bless the person that threw the drink onto Artest when he was laying on the table...

If RottenTomatoes did sporting events this would've had a massive disparity between critics and audience score

The day before my 16th birthday. We smoked Reginald green at the park and then went and saw the Sponge Bob movie. Watched highlights of this for an hour or so and then Evil Dead for the first time. That movie sucks arse when you’re high.(not sponge bob obviously)

Also, that Pacers team could've won a title had that not happened. Poor Reggie Miller.

I was in Indy for a swim meet the weekend it happened.

Being in the heart of Pacer land, it was all anyone was talking about the whole weekend.

Had I been home it’s still would have dominated the sports news cycle, but wouldn’t have been nearly the same engrossing experience.

Me too. Writing a paper freshman year with my little TV sitting off to the side of my desk.

The first video in the OP cuts off too soon...in the one below, you get to see the Pacers get pummeled with food and drink as they walk off the court...

It was like the King Kong float in Bacchus...

For some reason I always think this event took place in the 90s.

I remember watching it live in my living room with my 5 other roommates in college sophomore year while we were pregaming before hitting the bar.

We ended up just watching ESPN till like midnight drinking then eventually went out.

If I remember right there was a nighttime Sportscenter on right after (or perhaps they just cut to the studio because of the event?) and I remember turning the TV on and the anchors just being speechless

The fan’s softball / cornhole beer cup toss that hit him should have won an ESPY award.

Exactly the same for me. I was watching in my living room with my roommates/friends. Once it was clear the Pacers were going to win we sort of the turned the sound down (but not completely off) and were discussing where we wanted to go that night. We completely missed the Artest/Wallace confrontation so when we looked back at the screen it was just complete bedlam. It took a few seconds to even process what we were seeing, it was just so unreal. We ended up going on a beer run to the gas station across the street and watching coverage for most of the rest of the night.

I'm not the biggest fan of Twitter and other social media, but man, can you believe the footage that would have come out if it would have happened even 5 years later?
