LSU slammed by doctor over 'bulls***' concussion test on QB Nussmeier: 'It's not 1975!"

... and while reading the news during breakfast this morning in London:
"It's not 1975"
quote:
A Harvard-educated doctor has accused LSU medical staff of carrying out a 'bulls***' concussion test on their quarterback after a heavy hit this weekend.
During their defeat to Florida on Saturday night, Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was left lying on the floor in agony after being brutally sacked by two Gators defenders before slowly returning to his feet.
Having taken such a fierce hit, LSU doctors were obliged to follow concussion protocols and examine Nussmeier before deciding whether or not he was fit to return to the field.
However, ESPN's broadcast captured a member of the team's medical staff conducting a bizarre test on the 22-year-old.
The Tigers staffer could be seen moving his index finger up and down for Nussmeier to follow it with his eyes, before appearing to make him stand on one leg with his eyes closed.
And that basic examination has not gone down well with Chris Nowinski, a qualified neuroscientist and founding CEO of the Concussion Legacy Foundation.

That’s a field sobriety test.

This is how we get out of our current situation. Brooks and now this plus his history.

I saw that and thought WTF. Both my boys had concussions playing HS football and the testing protocols were more rigorous than what Nuss went through.

BK getting fired for cause? Some Texas Tech/Mike Leach rehab right there.

Concussion is a clinical diagnosis. An experienced clinician can diagnose it often with little difficulty

Concussion tests are concussion tests if you know you know it’s pretty obvious when someone has one..

I fully agree! Kelly obviously doesn’t give a frick about player safety, fire his arse for cause!

Idk why they were even testing him for one. His arm was what was hurting him

This doc probably also pushed masks and social distancing. Nuss was fine.

First off, chances are Nuss was perfectly fine and potentially faking another injury after he got breathed on.
He is the only player that I have ever seen that comes up in severe pain and injury when touched by a defensive player every single time.
I am not joking here. Watch every time he got hit or made a bad play, something was “injured or hurting”.

Our medical staff is also failing? That’s wild. What a time to be alive.

That would be the Harvard guy.

Nowinski is over the top with concussion issues to the point he loses credibility. Pretty sure he wanted to jail everyone working for the Dolphins over Tua.

He got tackled and he basically head-butted the ground face first right before they did this. Not unreasonable to suspect a concussion on that play.
Replay
After watching again, it didn't look that bad but his head did hit the ground

Someone here had mentioned in a thread about Nuss getting concussed. Maybe for the AandM game? There was never a reply to that question.
