Why is Jalen Reed point total set at 7.5 for the Kansas State game tonight?

Kid has easily been the best play on the team through two games. Am I missing something?

Yes, that he wasn't the best player on the team in game two
6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers in 24 minutes vs. Alabama St.
Reed had a really good game vs. ULM, but was a non-factor vs. ASU. So much so that he was replaced down the stretch by Fountain/Collins. Carter and Bailey have been the most consistent players in the first two games. Couple that with the fact Reed has ALWAYS been inconsistent, and that is why you get the point total of 7.5 (though I would take the over if betting)

Reed has NBA size and athleticism. What is he lacking? Skill?

Pretty sure Reed was hurt… he looked to be limping down the floor towards the end of the game.

Nah, but I’d bet the over on 7.5pts

Didn’t play well against Alabama State. Although I think 7.5 is very low

I don't know if I would go so far as to say he has NBA athleticism. He's 6'10, but not a very explosive athlete. He's a below the rim player. He's really good at finishing around the rim with either hand, but doesn't really excel anywhere else (shooting, rebounding, defense)

A a complete skillset, but more than that, a consistent motor. At times he is dominant. Then just as quickly he's literally not paying attention to what is happening on the floor

Forgot about that he rolled his ankle bad

I thought they outlawed prop bets for college sports as of this year.

Probably he is either not in louisiana or is using an offshore like BOL

I didn't know player props in college sports were still happening.

Reed is one of the more inconsistent players out there. So it's a huge guess what he'll do in any 1 game to the next.
Against ULM he had 24 points, 8 boards, 2 blocks, 0 turnovers in 23 minutes
Against ALST he had 6 points, 3 boards, 2 turnovers in 24 minutes remaining invisible most of game he played
Alabama St had almost no height so you would have expected him to dominate, but that's not what happened. Their 7'1 guy played 9 minutes and a 6'10 guy played 9 minutes. Nobody else over 6'7 played any minutes.

This. And the game was pretty much under control when he got shook up so I think McMahon played it safe in the last 8 or so minutes and sat him

I think that's always been the rub with Reed, we see these glimpses and flashes, but never consistently. He and Ward were both fairly highly rated recruits in CMM's first freshman class - now Ward is off the team for personal reasons and at least in this very small sample size of two games Reed is still an enigma.
