All my friends up north are obsessed with Italian roast beef after season two of the bear. What makes this sandwich so special over other items?

Chicago Italian Beef is pretty awesome. Any good sandwich should be served dripping wet. Chicago has decent food in part because of the massive variety of cultures that seem to all exist in their own neighborhoods.

Maybe not Louisiana Po-Boy quality, but definitely better than those stupid Hoagies, Heros, and other midwestern bullshite.

Old man rant incoming.
any sandwich that's dripping wet is one i'm not ordering again. And I get people love a good roast beef debris dripping wet sandwich, just not me.
Soggy bread sucks and i don't like needing to take a shower after i eat.

Philly cheesesteak, NOLA poboy, Chicago Italian beef, etc. It’s just another regional sandwich that gets hyped up bc you can’t get it everywhere.

And if you find a good one, it’s worth it bc it’s probably delicious.

This. The best beef sandwiches are in Louisiana, Chicago, and Philly.

Are the roast beef poboys we eat in South LA different than the ones they eat up north?

Took some Chicago friends to some Nee Orleans roast beef spots and they were blown away. Better than their favorite Italian roast beef places

I had some Italian roast beef in Chicago and some are very very good. I like them for what they are.
I also like our classic New Orleans roast beef

I love food from a big city. Just generally, it's really good.
