Great sushi spot you don't have to kill someone to get a reservation for.
I think attending sporting events is always a good way to mix with the locals. I did sumo and baseball, but the most fun may have been the B2K basketball league. I saw the Shibuya Sunrockers.
Otherwise just visit neighborhoods and eat your head off.

I had 2 days and used one to take the bullet train down to Kyoto, and then walked something like 8 miles seeing the sights, and then back by the train. Definitely recommended.
The other day I mostly walked around the Imperial Palace moat and in one of the gardens. It was pretty cool.

Tokyo Tower, The Imperial Palace grounds (can’t go in from what I remember), Visit several Temples, shop, view their Times Square, The Tsukiji Fish Market. They moved it from when I went but it is a great thing to see. Get there VERY Early for the Tuna Auctions and unloading. Enjoy such a beautiful city with beautiful people. One of my favorite places.
I never felt unsafe in such a large city.

Getting more on track. Pick one main thing for each day and rest just wonder around the main areas. One of the best cities in the world to get lost in

Last time in Tokyo, I ate raw chicken; sort of like chicken sashimi. I went to a restaurant and that was their specialty. Didn’t know what I ordered until it arrived and didn’t want to be rude.
Apparently it is so fresh, there’s no bacteria like the weeks old chicken in the States.
That’s a one time experience you’ll only do there and will remember for life.
Also try some of the kit-kat flavors that they don’t sell in the US and get one of those fish shaped, stuffed pancakes on the street.

Tokyo is huge. If you don’t have a plan, you will be wasting opportunities. Everything in that city is on a schedule.

Fair point on getting lost…. Maybe the wrong term.
Better point as pick an area and wonder.

I went to a local, small hibachi grill type restaurant that was very popular to the Japanese. It was an omakase menu in that you were served whatever small plates the chef was preparing right in front of you. I ate and loved things I didn't think I would ever eat at all. I highly recommend you find one of those and go. It was a memorable experience.
