consensus here. I think the fanbase generally approves of the hires without calling it a slam dunk. Would I be right in saying alot are skeptical of Haley? How about Cooper? Chavis?

Chavis- B
Haley- B
Cooper- A

This is JMO on the resumes and how I think they fit. I think they are all very safe/solid hires.

Sonny is saying Haley is a very good recruiter. Add in that he was good enough at Miss St. to get noticed by Lovie Smith and I am very pleased.

i would agree with ehida. i think Cooper is a slam dunk (good black coaches are almost always a positive imo), and will wait and see with Chavis and Haley

Chavis and Cooper are amazing hires imo...don't know much about Brick. He doesn't seem to be a fan favorite in Chi-town

Chavis - B-/C+
Cooper - A+
Brick - B-

Most disagree with me about Chavis. I think he is a safe hire and better than what we had, but I find his coverage and schemes to be a little passive, his experince outside of Tenn to be lacking and think he's been in the SEC too long. That being said, it's a good hire.
I don't know how we got Cooper, but that is an awsome hire IMHO.
Haley's a good hire. He's got DC expereince and did well enough with MSU's to get NFL experience.

Definitely agree with this, even though most rantards here probably still won't give Miles credit...

I'm all for em.

Honestly I don't know how you can be skeptical of Chavis but that's your right. 10 of his 14 years as DC I believe he was top of the SEC in defense, isn't that what I read? What he did this year considering the offense was atrocious........I love it.

As far as him being soft and the "3rd and long mentality" I think when we give him the talent and situations for him to succeed I think we'll reap the benefits.

The defensive position we have lacked for years has been LBs. Check that off the list, all of the positions should be solid from here til the foreseeable future.

Cooper may end up helping with N. Alabama talent as well. I like how everybody has previous SEC experience.

If anyone on here was told during the season the we would trade chavis/cooper/brick for mallory/peveto. Most would have craped themselves. And they are coming into a great situation talent wise. Can't wait to see what they do. We should have one of the top defenses in the sec for sure.

What do you not like about Brick?
I like the NFL experience and what he did at MSU. I know he's not a huge name, but besides Dunbar and O, what other big names are out there?

Just want the opinions of others on why they don't like Brick as much.

Most people question Brick because the Bears fans trash him. Truth is, Bears fans trash their own mother.

I will hold my opinion on this hire until play starts, but it looks like a good hire.

chavis is definitely a B+ with the upside potential of being an A+. That's what I am hoping for.

Cooper seems to be a consensus great hire.

Haley - there wasn't much talk going on about him.

I feel great about our coaching staff.

What circumstances surrounded the Ron Rivera Departure from Chicago? He seems to have whipped that San Diego defense into shape pretty damn fast (without their best player too). Not every coach to leave Chicago is a dog.
