just a recap of his contract.

Guaranteed seasons became non-guaranteed due to games played clause:
2024-25: 50% guaranteed, fully guaranteed 1/7/25
2025-26: non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed 7/15/25
2026-27: non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed 7/15/26
2027-28: non-guaranteed, fully guaranteed 7/15/27
Guarantee triggers exist if certain criteria has been met:
20% of 2025-26 salary becomes guaranteed if passes all six of his weigh-in checkpoints during the 2024-25 season
40% of 2025-26 salary becomes guaranteed if plays >= 41 games during 2024-25 season, additional 20% if plays >= 51 games, remaining 20% if plays >= 61 games.
Salaries for 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons can be re-guaranteed if above metrics are hit the season prior
Further protections via:
Weight must be less than 295 lbs; body fat monitored
Injury sustained to right foot

So just a reminder, we can actually waive him before January 7th and not owe him a cent after that. Not that I think we should do that, but just reminding everyone of his contract.

I’m curious how the weigh ins have been going.

means low risk:high reward for the teams we trade him to as well.

It makes no sense to waive him. We either need to trade him or ride out his contract and pray he improves. Cutting him gives us nothing in return but we’re also still over the cap so we still wouldn’t be able to sign free agents even if his salary is off the books.

Really set the bar high.

It gives us options. If we don't (or can't) move him, then the situation devolves further, he could become a negative or poisonous asset. Instead of having to use assets to get rid of him or taking on bad contracts, we can just walk away. I know everyone wants a major haul instead, but that just may not happen..

Only way you probably get even a decent, not major, haul would be with a ton of conditions, like number of games played. etc. No way any other team is looking at his history, and believing that they can quickly fix whatever his problem is.

He has to be bordering right on that 295lb limit.
There's no way he weighs less than 300, and I don't think he ever has since he's been here except his rookie year.
There's supposedly body fat requirements as well in this contract.

2022 media day was probably around 300. It's no damn way he was only 15 pounds heavier than Duke. His frame was muscular and lean, he actually lost weight from High School to College because he toned up. He was thinner at Duke than he was at certan points in high school.

Right now his body is more muscular and more fatty everywhere. There's no god damn way right now he's only 15 pounds heavier than Duke. He's around 315-320.

He's gonna be lighter than he was at Duke!!!

Revenge season!!!

Offseason skinny pics!!!

Nope, same Zion as always, not in peak shape or even close to it...oh and the worst start to his career even when he was on the court.

I said he looked out of shape in the preseason, but no one wanted to hear that b/c he was putting up good offensive numbers. If you actually watched the games, you'd notice he was just as lazy as ever, especially defensively.

Oh trust me, I know.

That hasn't stopped those from not atoning for their horrific takes that he was in the best shape he's ever been in and not agreeing with that made you a terrible person.

Don't forget "pathetic!"

My favorite line in response to me saying maybe we should just let it play out and let Zion prove it on the court was my... "prove it silliness"
