Taking 15 year old son to game Saturday. Advice needed.

Have tickets but no parking pass. We are going to get there around 7 right when parking lots open up. Where is the best place to park for those with no parking pass? Going to see game day which is so pumped about. My concern is there are a lot of hours between then and kickoff. Suggestions for what to do until game time? Is there any places we could pay to go tailgate and watch other games during the day? Open to anything. Thanks in advance, fellow tiger fans.

What direction are you headed after the game? That is the single biggest factor in deciding where to park.

By the time Gameday is over and you clear out of there, it is only about 4-5 hours until time to go into the game, so not too bad. Gameday will be in the quad I believe, so you could try and go to Chimes afterwards and get a bite, though I am sure it will be very crowded. There are a ton of good tailgates in that area as well, and not far from you around the greek theater and indian mound area. Bring an offering of some sort, or as you said offer to chip in, and I am sure you can find a group willing to let you and your son join for the day.
There are probably posters here willing to do so as well.

I posted my guide and it is pinned to the top of tRant with the free lot spaces. You should be fine at 7am to park anywhere.

we used to park in tiger land parking lot and enjoyed the nice walk. The best part is after the game you bypass all of the really bad campus parking lot exit traffic. Never been an issue even for big games

Not sure. Gotta find a hotel to stay. Surprising him with saints game next day. So somewhere between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Me too with my son. Don't think I will get there at 7am though.

If that’s the case, maybe stay at a hotel at the hwy 30 exit of I-10 (by the Tanger). Park at the hayfield lots and take river road to l'auberge casino then get on Hwy 30 all the way to your hotel.

Walk around. Take in the sights.
Lots of lunch spots on Highland and on Nicholson.
See Mike in his cage and watch the march down victory hill.
Plenty to do and you’ll be surprised how quickly the day goes by.

Don’t cheer the Mike imposter.

As another poster said, if you are heading south after the game, I would park at the hayfield lots at gourrier/river road by the REC fields (note: NOT by the UREC itself), and then take river road south after the game, whether that be to get to Bluebonnet/I-10 or all the way down LA 30.
Another option would be to park at the free lots near walk-ons if they are open---sometimes they do not open those lots after it has been raining. There is also limited free parking at the smaller campus buildings along Gourrier between Parker and Burbank (Transportation building, etc.). Those should be available early in the am.
Its a pretty good walk from the Hayfields once you park, but you can walk by the Box and through campus on your way to the quad for Gameday. And you'll thank yourself after the game---traffic southbound on river road is minimal. The longest you'll wait is getting out of the lot to turn on Gourrier. As tempting as it might be, you'd be setting yourself up for bad traffic experience if you try and park at the Law school or lod cook (or others closer to the quad) and end up wanting to go south after the game.

I park by WCA and shoot for the interstate from Highland. Take the side streets instead of going all the way to Louise Street. It absolutely feels sketchy but no one is going to do anything. There is not usually a single person out there.
First turn would be to go around that gas station near further north of campus, before you get to BRPD and Blue Store. You can map it out. It's easier to go to I-10 that way and do a turn around where the Louise Street exit is. If I have time later I'll draw an escape map.

Quiet with escape route Bilbeau...going through the ghetto and under the interstate has been my go to for years. Don't need competition getting us stuck in traffic back there.
