I don't cheer Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It is unlawful, aggressive, and is completely out of touch with the world order. Not to mention the loss of life and destruction it has wrought.
It still isn't our business. Russia isn't coming for Berlin or Paris. They aren't even coming for Riga or Warsaw.
It simply is not our problem. Russia made a miscalculation in invading Ukraine. It is in everyone's best interest to allow all sides to come to a peace agreement that reflects that--I'm not advocating that Russia should get Ukraine's entire Black Sea coast, which is what they want. But there has to be a level of pragmatism in our policy here. NATO and the US have the trump card on Russia in geographical terms already. The invasion of Ukraine confirmed that and drove Sweden and Finland into NATO in the process. Its time to come to terms. Kiev is going to just have to live with it. The alternative isn't even possible.
