Yamaha 4 stroke 25hp outboard not peeing.

I have a 2021 yamaha outboard 25hp motor. Bought it used and the there is water that dribbles out of the tell tale but no solid stream. I just replaced the water pump and ran some wire and weed eater string in it and still just trickles out. Only time the temp light lit up was when I ran it in shallow water with super thick moss. I can run it 25mph for a while and no temp light. I would just prefer it to have a steady stream. Anyone have any experience with this?

I'd look at water pump install again. Drop the lower and make sure everything is good

Need to check the water pressure in the block. That'll tell you if it's a pump problem or not.

Did you check to make sure pee hole does not have a clog

You almost definitely have something that was sucked up and causing a clog.
Have you done a 100 hour service? If not on a 2021 I'd definitely do that and you'll likely find your issue in the process.

Yes, I ran wire up in it as well as weed trimmer line. I feel like it is a clog too or thermostat issue. I cannot really find where yamaha starts after the thermostat kicks in like my mercury used to do or if it starts peeing automatically once started.

No I have not done 100hr service. This thing only has 15hrs on it.

I assume I would have to take it in to test for this? Or is there another way?

Google it up. You'll need to screw a pressure gauge into a port on the engine block and then crank it up. Should just require a simple cheap gauge and maybe a bushing. I'm not familiar with that engine so I don't know exactly what is needed, but Google will know.
If it has plenty water pressure and weak pisser, it's a plug. Low water pressure means pump problem.

I get that and I'm not religious about them, but a 2021 could have been built in 2020 so that impellar could be almost 5 years old. Could just be a bad impellar.

Ok. I am just going to take it in and have them figure it out I guess. I appreciate everyone’s help.

Idk about the 25HP but 225 yamaha starts peeing when you start it.

Try to figure it out. Even the most complex outboard (etech) still has a simple cooling system.

My 2018 F300 seems to clog up way more thatn normal when I use it in the river. I keep a peice of 80 lb mono onboard to run up the pee tube and that works most of the time. If not when I get home, pull the cowling and follow the pee tube back to the block. At least on the 300 about 4" up the hose it connects to a 3 way fitting. Pull the hose off that fitting and clean the fitting out as well. I do this with the water hooked to the hose and it will usually blow some crud out from eel grass or whatever else it has sucked up running the river.

Couple things you might try if haven’t already
Hook up a water hose to the flush port and give it a good flush. Water should come out pee hole good and strong
Take the water intake screens off the lower unit and give a good cleaning. Sometimes crap gets clogged just behind them.

as noted in the post above mine…pull the cowling and follow the pee tube up to the block there will be a plastic barb fitting. Remove the hose and pull the fitting
mine always has dirt dauber mud in it

The water pump install is good. The old pump was in really good condition to begin with. After I installed the new one it does the exact same thing.
I have run thin wire and weed eater string up the peehole and nothing changes. Still dribbles out.
I did take the intake screens off and cleaned them out. They really didn’t have anything to clean out to begin with.
I did follow the line up to the block, but I didn’t remove the hose just yet. I may try that next. I was just trying to see if my weed eater string made it around the elbows on the hoses.
I have also hooked a hose up to the flush port on the side of the engine and it intermittently dripped out of the pee hole. I read where you shouldn’t have your engine running when hooked up to the flush port. It should only be running when you have muffs or if the motor is in water.
I was thinking yamaha engines automatically started peeing upon cranking the engine unlike mercury.

Check the orientation of pump parts. Is something in backwards

No reason to run the engine while on the flush port, you just need a little pressure to help push out the clog. The weedeater string will only go to the little 3 way fitting. The way it is oriented will not allow the string to bends around the corner and go any further. Pulling the hoses off that fitting have corrected my issue every time it has quit peeing. I have to do this process at least twice every summer since I bought the engine. It;s just squeeze type clamps so its very easy to pull the hoses off.
