BOOSTER CATCH SUCCESSFUL!!!
And this has 1 of the most interesting aspects to it... the 1st attempt at actually catching the booster back at the launch site
Still pending FAA launch license... but all indications are it should get the go-ahead
ETA: License has been received
Starship is good for launch Sunday morning

I’ve been waiting for this for months. They bypassed the FAA slow walking the license by appealing directly to NASA.
The booster catch is going to be amazing. I’ve seen the previous 4 test flights and each one makes tremendous progress. Hold on to your britches! Excitement guaranteed.

At this point Elon is basically lapping Artemis and NASA. Can we just cancel the project and save taxpayers billions?
I get there will be push back from the corporate dole welfare state saying so many jobs will be lost, and the Boeing's of the world will cry how unfair it is... But at some point the adults in the room need to have an honest conversation about what's happening here.

Somebody at the FAA got a talking to and they sped up their paperwork skills.

Took this pic of a launch a few months ago. I had no ideas what it was it the time. Taken from 800 miles away.

Since the super heavy booster is so massive... it doesn't have landing legs to help save weight
So the Starship launch pad has arms... or "chopsticks"... which will be used to literally catch the booster as it comes back to Earth
Animation of what the catch should look like

Careful mmmmmbeer is lurking to come into this thread to tell everyone what a shitty person Elon is and how all his companies are failures.

Either way we get our money's worth.
In the rapidly dwindling RC world there's a phrase: "I hate to see a plane crash" followed immediately by: "on the other hand I hate to miss a plane crash"

Trying to catch it on the 4th launch. Wow
Either way, I'll be watching. Last one was amazing. Hopefully a good launch and catch this time.

Hope it goes. Sunday may be a great day for launches, I may be watching the Europa Clipper launch with Daiquiri in hand waiting for my cruise ship to set sail at 12:12.
Always wanted to see a Falcon Heavy launch in person.

It’s possible that we see a “jellyfish” Sunday morning if they launch right at the start of the window. The usual trajectory is about 300 miles south of Louisiana coast

The booster gets caught. Is Starship going to do an orbit again?
