Yep sounds like we struggled defensively behind the dish. We got a lot of capable arms and bats though. Gotta figure out left side of infield but we got the dudes to do it

Please forgive my struggles filling this summary. The first one is more difficult for me than the ones following due to several factors including my unfamiliarity of the players, my forgetfullness of the stats I need to keep up with, and my inattention of the action due to my visiting with my scrimmage friends who I have not seen since the last home series of the previous season. I promise improvement is coming, soon.

My first thought was well, catcher is going to be different this year. Been a long time since anyone was really able to run on LSU.

I trust Jay.

ELL….I never recall details of scrimmages…is lack of control this early normal?

Have to take stats with a grain of salt. The fall is for competition but it’s also for development. These pitchers could be working on certain pitches they are trying to figure out which could be a reason for so many walks. I’ve learned over the last 4-5 years of really keeping up with fall baseball that the stats are fun to keep up with but don’t run with anything to make opinions from fall. Especially with the younger players.

So, we thinking Dickinson ends up as starting SS and Braswell moves to 3B?

It’s possible, but historically Jay has experimented a bunch during the fall.

Like Casan Evans hitting or Dalton Beck pitching. I think he is kicking tires just to make sure he knows what he has. If Dickinson looks like dansby swanson then he could steal that job. Otherwise it’s probably Braswells’

Whoever has the better defense will play SS, its that simple. The other will play 3B

Probably Jay knowing what he has in braswell and if he has a better defensive option to push braswell to third.

Most of these arms wont be pitching any type of critical innings next spring, these are mostly end of pen guys outside of Guidry and Will Schmidt. Maybe Lape and Fontenot (and some other wildcards) make their way out but this first scrimmage was Jay experimenting a lot, including with pitchers.

Personally I highly doubt we see Beck take the mound in the spring unless its a game completely out of control. He's proven over the last few years he should not be pitching on this level.
