I remember years ago these were great events for the students, players, and nearby community.

Band would play. The game captains would say a few words in spurts to get people fired up, and the HC would finish it off. I know it’s somewhat still a thing in high school but wasn’t sure if LSU has dropped this as it’s become more corporate?

When I was a student at LSU back in the 70’s, we had panty raids at the girl dorms prior to home games. Still have a nagging injury from being chased by campus police after all these years!

What would a panty raid entail?

Getting girls to throw their panties.

I have a friend who married the guy she met because of the panty raid at Evangeline Hall.

Sometimes I think that if LSU had the Ole Miss Riots & panty raids now like we had back in the early '60's, it would be on national news & they would call out the National Guard!
Those were fun times.

The boys did this as late as 1979 when I was a Freshman.

Yeah, I went on the last panty raid they allowed. It was the fall of '74, the Thursday night before the Colorado game. I remember climbing on the roof of Power dorm (it was a girl's dorm then) and getting maybe 5 pairs of panties. The girls used to go to the TG&Y before the game and buy cheap panties to give away. Fun times. Then they outlawed it.

Not since 1970’s. If I had to guess an SEC that still does that Texas A&M comes to mind.

I don’t ever recall any such events at LSU in my lifetime and I’m a youthful 58 and grew up living near the campus. I seem to recall my Dad having described something like that back when he was at LSU in the early 50’s.

On the other hand, I have had the misfortune of having been talked in to going to the cult gathering they always hold over in College Station on Friday nights and call “Yell Practice”. However, the aggies are forced to substitute sheep and other livestock for actual women…
