I’m looking for recommendations for a retriever trainer. The dog is a 3 yo lab that had trading in the past, but is rusty. I’m not going to run trials with the dog…strictly hunting. Someone in south La. would be preferable just for convenience.
Thanks

What is your budget? Lots of answers to good and close but some may make you fall over in cost if you aren’t expecting it.

Rodrigue's Cajun K-9 does some great work in the Thibodaux area.

I’m aware of costs…good, full time trainers aren’t cheap.

I’m aware of the price range. Good full time retrievers aren’t cheap.

Chuck McCall - Chumac Kennels in Denham/BR
Steve Riggins - Bear Creek on the Bayou in Slaughter (if he's still taking dogs)
Trent Nugier - High Performance Retrievers in Maurice
Kaine Pace - Down South Gundogs in East Feliciana
Tyler Davis - NP Retrievers in Abita
Brandon Menard - Cypress Bottom Retrievers in St. Martinville

I'd have no hesitation sending my dog to any of the above.

He's a celebrity now. He was just on Duck Camp Dinners.

He did a good job getting my dog started.

Didn't know that. Good dude. I like him a lot and he has a really good, easy going attitude with towards dogs.

The guys on my list will vary in pricing based on experience, but none of them are guys you'd need to worry about wailing on your dog with a heeling stick next to a trailer at a hunt test. You can tell a lot about dog trainers by how their dogs react to them when they unload from the kennel or the trailer at a test. I generally get along better with the trainers whose dogs wag their tails.

Yeah were all happy as all hell whenever I went visit. I got to watch him train a couple of times, too. I didn't keep up with working my dog like I needed to so she's pretty much a yard dog now but she was doing great when I picked her up from him.

Obedience

I have a 1.5-year-old Golden and we're seeking obedience training. She's pretty well behaved but I need someone to put in the time to fine-tune her. Heel, stay, and things like that.

Daniel’s friend Jason does his obedience training for him. He’s a nice guy as well.
