Now, LSU will take its foot off the gas in her recruitment with Chavez's camp requesting an NIL package surpassing the $1 million mark, a source tells LSU Tigers On SI.

Good lord

I didn't even know the highest rated football/basketball (male of course) recruits were making anything like that.

I'd imagine B.Underwood/Cooper Flagg getting that amount, but they are actually profitable.

When these kids are getting paid more than the coaches then it's the NBA, where the players fire the coaches.

Caitlin Clark's contract is $338,056 for 4 years. Good move by Mulkey. It would be hard to justify that to the rest of the team for a girl who hasn't played 1 game of college basketball. I'd think if you gave that kind of money to one player they'd have a lot of animosity and resentment from the rest of the team. It stings but we'll be fine without her if this is true.

And that would be far from her last "request"

I enjoy watching LSU women's basketball, but the delusion here is wild.

When numbers reach outrageous levels (relatively speaking for specific NIL deals), it is 100% the adults around them trying to get paid, not just the kid.

I refuse to get worked up about a sport that can't even fund itself with a player asking for $1 million

Chavez isn't close to anywhere near a million. Maybe some other school will pay it, but good on LSU for knowing where they stand.

My bet is she’ll realize that not even Texas will pay her 1mil per in a sport that loses money.

She already thinks like a WNBA player…clearly overvaluing her worth.

Yea it’s going to be interesting when these women go to the WNBA and take a potential pay cut…..I mean it every high profile women’s basketball recruit will have a college career like Clark or Reese.

Actually there are a couple of rich boosters who are ponying up to help Vic bring a natty to Texas so I disagree. Do I think paying over a million dollars for a HS WBB player, possibly alienating the rest of the locker room in the process as a wise decision? No

As they say it’s not my money…

And what happens when the national title doesn’t come…..that’s way more likely than winning one.

It sucks this is what NIL has become. A commit to pay for play to a university.

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think even Paul Skenes or Tommy Tanks got a million to come to LSU. And they were proven at the college level. And didn't they donate their NIL money anyways?

This is nuts.
