I can do without power for a while, but what I want to see is the internet outage map. That's what's most important to me and my family.

Damn all that nonsense. Situations like this it’s going to happen no matter what but it doesn’t have to happen in lesser situations. The same pretty trees people plant under a damn power line are the same trees that grow into power lines that blow the fuse on the transformer, which causes street by street outages. To hell with any tree that causes me to go without power for just a second because some jackass bitched about the tree being trimmed away from the power line.

Could you imagine having this many in Louisiana? It would destroy the energy monopoly we all cherish so much.

If the tree is in an easement, there's no bitching involved. They get trimmed or removed, regularly. At least in my municipality.

That’s not always the case in Louisiana, and it doesn't matter if its a Co-OP, Cleco or Entergy. A random person in New Orleans will be ready to go to jail when it comes to a Live Oak.
