It’s pretty bad. Spotty in spillway but verrett and surrounding areas got hammered. All the canals are dead

Normal after a hurricane. will take about 2-3 years to recover. in swla we went thru it with rita and laura.

Get the Pogy boats to trawl up the dead fish and leave the littoral zone alone.

Maurepas/Diversion Canal/Blind River has it too. Typical after a storm. Saltwater intrusion and high water pulling a bunch of organic matter out of the swamp causing low oxygen levels. That's why fishing on the Amite/Blind River always sucks. Hoping that river diversion into Maurepas swamp at least helps with restocking.

Currently at my parents dock on Belle River we have dead catfish, bass, bream, snakes, and crabs

Crabs are sucking on top of the water as well making them easy to net!
Uncle camp on Belle River has a flounder floating on top of water as well.

Anyone hearing of any fish kills in the basin? Seems like it's just on the east side of the levee?

The water in the basin always sucks so the few fish that are there are used to it. That’s why the basin has been crap lately. Too much low oxygen water.

I’m thinking after the weekend passes we should hear some reports that are more recent. Sounding like the most impacted areas are Lake Verret and Belle River area
