and you Sir ,are a nucklehead if you think it's that hard to show a def.lineman to shoot a gap,or how to stunt,it's not like we're launching rockets here. And recruiting has to be easier than coaching hell that's like shopping for groceries.

D line coach is responsible for making the calls for the D line based on the defense called by the DC and line substitutions.
O was brought there to recruit and be a rah rah guy over any other responsibilities. He has had success in the past with his D lines in college football. I think his rushing stats at USC are a little skewed because of the amount of passing in the Pac 10 but impressive none the less.
He is a great hire for UT. No other way around it. Has there ever been a more coveted position coach in college football? Could any other D line coach demand the salary and guaranteed contract that he will receive at UT?
I think his tenure at Ole Miss will prevent him from ever getting a top tier HC coaching job. O is going to follow the money. I don't buy the Monte Kiffen BS.

Jevan Snead would have saved his job.

If you listen to the OM players talk, there was no unity on the team the past few years. O is in way over his head as an HC, or even as a DC. And the Saints were not happy with his performance as DL coach.
He was sought after solely to recruit. And 900K is a lot of money to throw at a guy who simply recruits. Shows that the Kiffens are admitting they know nothing about SEC recruiting, and went after someone they thought could help that.

I would have liked to see what he could do recruiting for LSU, but I was afraid of how he might affect the chemistry of the coaching staff, particularly if we overpaid for him. LSU has obviously recruited pretty well without him in the past, and we will continue to do so.

So he's a great recruiter,

Which is why he was hired.

but can't coach his way out of a paper bag

As a head coach or DC no, but he is a very capable DL coach.

....I'll take a better coach thank you.Any monkey can recruit

Are you really this stupid?

He is a DL coach and a recruuiter at UT. That is it. He doesn't have to game plan, make decisions or make in game adjustments. For what UT hired him for he is one of the best in cfb.

You guys do not get it. O is a good coach. He had no talent when he got to Ole Miss. They pulled the plug to early.

So will I. A few on the current staff fall into that category. (McCarthy and Lane) Great recruiters are nothing but the college football version of used car salesmen.....
