Skiing in Taos

Has anyone been, specifically first week of April? I'm surprised it would still be cold enough but the Internet claims it is. Any advice?

Never been, but the mountain peak is over 12,000 feet. I'm sure it holds snow pretty well.
Here is a chart of average snowfall. Base depth averages 67". Should be fine.

Went in late March a few years ago and snow was fine up top and meh to too soft down low. It was their last week open.i think they close late March early April every year. You should find out if that due to conditions or their lease.
They redid all their lifts lately but don’t except big wide runs like the i70 resorts.

Taos is great. Should be fine first week of April in a normal year of snowfall. Might be a bit slushy toward the base in the afternoon, but that shouldn’t deter you. You’ll have a blast.

Skied it many years ago. Tight mountain that is pretty heavy with harder runs. Went the week after Christmas and there was snow then. We didn’t start seeing snow until we got up the mountain. April will be hit or miss depending on their season.

This isn't supposed to be a great year for NM skiing but you never know with weather forecasts. I went mid February a few years ago and it was perfect conditions with even still a little bit of soft snow near the base in the afternoon. I'd question early April

No way I'd plan a whole trip around Taos in April. We went to Park City for mid March and it was slushy as hell on the bottom and that much more north. Given that, it was a warmer week and it got colder once we left.
But the cheaper mountains are usually more south or lower elevation or hard to get to from a big city, or both. You may have a great year in April, but you are statistically much more likely to have warm weather.
