There was definitely more they could have done but I appreciated their ability to hold the tone and tension throughout the length of the movie.

I kept waiting for it to get good, but it just didn’t.
The “battle” scene at the end was silly.
He never really portrayed the bad arse he was perceived to be.

Let me guess. Our hero is smart, handsome, tough, kind hearted, strong and able to kick butt. His opponents are mean, cruel, stupid, racists, and cowards and bad shots to top it off. Seen enough of these already.

Sw it tonight, and really enjoyed it. Liked the lead a lot. He was good in M Night’s “Old,” too, I thought.

I couldnt take the main character seriously as a bad arse. You can workout and take as much gear as you want to make you look like a badass, but that dude is a theater kid from London that moves like the least athletic black dude ever.

Actually no. I don't recall there being one mention of race in the whole movie as far as the cops were concerned. I was pleasantly surprised at the portrayal of the cops. While yes, they were corrupt, they were corrupt towards both white and black people alike. It was a money thing, not race.

I thought it was ok, nothing earth shattering, but worth a watch if you have a couple of hours.

Watched it last night and thought it was pretty good. I missed some parts because I had to make a few trips the head to exercise a shite demon that took up residence in my gut.
To me it had a "First Blood" vibe to it. I know, not the same but I kept thinking about it.

They had a hundred opportunities in the movie to suggest racism and white man bad and didn't. All of you people who constantly bitch about such things should be praising this movie for telling a decent story with a black lead without all that BS.

Yeah, I enjoyed it but thought the finale was underwhelming. It was probably more realistic, but I would have preferred to see some asses more thoroughly whupped.
